Why Wynn ever thinks there will be such a thing as a 'simple recon mission' we just don't know.  

Several Knights were dispatched to a small isolated town in Germany where magic was rumored to not function, only to discover that the situation was a bit more complicated.  Yes, magic didn't function when attempted - sometimes.  But other times it had bizarre and dangerous side effects, including driving townspeople insane.  

Research led the team to a company called Luckman Industries who had bought digging rights to make a large quarry beneath the town, but further investigation revealed that they had actually constructed a massive underground laboratory instead.  Some sort of strange device stood at the center of it, magical in nature, but when they attempted to leave, they found the doors locked, and were forced into trying magic despite the potential side effects.

The spell seems to have attracted the attention of something within the building itself - a disembodied voice that's offered them a (mostly) pleasant greeting - to the Luckman Industries computer-aided enrichment center.

There will be cake.

[ whoops, that doesn't look like fire. A cloud of noxious yellow gas fills the small hallway. A dc 15 fort save negates the nausea. ]

Oh dear. I hope there's not a leak in the deadly neurotoxin pipe.

[fort save ... 6. poor bb looks like she's about to throw up.] Oh my god, I'm going to die here. We're all going to die. [she leans against the wall and ... lucky for everyone i guess she hasn't really eaten anything today so she just makes some dry heaving noises.]

[ rolled a 16 so not bothering to add mods /laziness. emma stops to put a hand on astrid's shoulder when she moves to the wall. ]

We're gonna be fine. Just pull your shirt over your nose and mouth. [ she uses her free hand to indicate. ] Like this. [ and hopefully whatever gold's doing doesn't cook them alive. ]

[ except just as Emma tries to illustrate what she's talking about, she vanishes. In fact, they all vanish. Congrats on your invisibility, team. ]

You know, that wasn't a bad idea. If I were your teammates, I wouldn't want to look at your faces either. Perhaps this well provide a much needed boost to morale.

[she makes a face and tries to explain] It's Dolce and Gab— [AND THEN EVERYONE IS GONE??? and glados is speaking. wtf. this is balls.]

[Invisigold is quiet for a long time. At least no one can see him making murder faces.

He's going to take his cane and personally dismantle every computer terminal in this base until GLaDOS is dead.]

[well i wasn't gonna tag again, but i rolled a nat 20 attack, so Gold just fucking SWINGS AT THE ICE WITH FURIOUS ABANDON. For 14 damage.

[ mars' spell burns a hole straight through the ice, that sets the rest of it melting away pretty rapidly, aw yis. room to crawl through. ]

Well. I suppose it's true what they say: third time's a sign that maybe you should do better the first two times.

[ if emma could see to be sure that was mars, she would be so proud rn. ]

Finally.

[ she keeps her hand on astrid's shoulder and guides her towards the holes in the ice to climb through. look she was having a rough time and emma is a mom, it's instinctive. ]

[GIIIRL YOU'RE GETTING THE CANE NEXT. And by girl, he means GLaDOS. Obviously.

This is gonna be some awkward clambering to get around each other while they're still invisible. Don't get struck by Gold's cane or anything.]

[ Too bad their all invisible, they cant see the dorky fist pump he just did. Cause that was awesome. Still waits, waiting seemed wise give the others time to get through while their invisible. counting to twenty mentally before he started to go to the hole in the ice.]

I've got it! [she whines, but doesn't really jerk away from emma because it's ... less risk of bumping into her that way, i guess. invisible party problems.]

[I hope Gold's second burning arc works, because there's something insanely hilarious about AWKWARD SILENCE AWKWARD SILENCE SUDDEN WALL OF FIRE.

But if it doesn't know that he is pissed the fuck off, even if you can't see him.]

[ emma goes right on through the next hole and— ] Oh, come on!

[ emma pounds her fist on the ice wall with no real intent to break it, then steps back to try casting magic missile. if it works, 2 missiles each for 4 damage. ]

[ i can't make this up. out of all the fucking odds against, emma... hears everyone's thoughts again. for a little bit longer this time, about twenty seconds. neither missile manifests. ]

How many more of these are there?! [officially done with this bullshit and casting Flaming Sphere in hopes of plowing through multiple walls??? 11 damage as it rolls... if it rolls... if it casts. sob.]
