There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

[Don't worry, Adam and Astrid got their sex things out of the way before they went for coffee this morning. They like to prioritize their to-do lists I guess. But Adam runs back to his room for something later once they've returned--idk what that something is so don't ask me because he probably forgets all about it when he spins around and like backs up to bump the desk against the wall after noticing someone just kind of sitting there watching him.]

Jesus FUCK! [Because he crit failed a spot check so I guess he just like rushed in and went over to his desk or something then caught Stiles looking at him when he glanced up at the mirror that was randomly there so he could admire himself. He wasn't expecting anyone to be there and his mind might have flashed to like single white female or basic instinct for the briefest of moments ok.]

How long have you been sitting there?

[Stiles normally would flail or jump up or shout back. But he's exhausted and this whole thing has him not acting like himself, so he just gives Adam a look like yep. I'm here. Hanging out.]

[Adam lets out a heavy breath, like he is still getting over being nearly murdered in his own room or something. But Stiles is acting particularly non-ADHD, so he figures something might actually be wrong with him. Or maybe he was being compelled again who knows.]

[Well, he wasn't exactly surprised when this turned out to be about the upcoming battle. Everyone was acting weird. Lydia always seemed a little neurotic but she was riding his ass over nothing last night. After a few seconds, Adam moves over to sit himself down beside Stiles at the foot of the bed because apparently they were going to have real talk.]

I think so. I kind of want to know more first though. I feel like we were given a war on terror speech, and we're all expected to just be okay with whatever going to "war" with this Sarandis guy entails. Like, not everyone over there is guilty of this shit, you know? But they're going to be the ones it effects. I mean, I guess you can say that of any war anymore. It's just fucked up.

[He nods. It's understandable. Hell, it's smart even. Adam doesn't just want to jump because the boss said so. Stiles was the one just asking "how high?" But it was different for him.]

I knew her- there was a knight on the mission who didn't make it back. She's still there. She was giving me magic lessons. I guess it just... It got personal.

[Adam doesn't really keep close tabs on other peoples' personal lives unless it has to do with like, vampire compulsion. So this was news to him. He turns his head to look at Stiles, but doesn't say anything right away. It's pretty clear what Stiles is telling him though.]

I'm sure someone would take pity on you. [Which is not Adam confirming or denying that someone would be him, for the record. But it was hard to keep this type of discussion light, so the smile fades and they're back in serious mode in a matter of moments.]

Have you told Lydia? [Is that why she was up Adam's ass about trying to get more information before he made a decision? He was kind of pulling no punches calling her out on her shit the other night.]
