There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

[He figured. She didn't exactly look the part of a seasoned veteran. Then again, if she'd smelled like anything other than another werewolf than appearances wouldn't really have mattered.

He nods behind her, where there just happens to be a folded up blanket or something. It's not like they were in the middle of nowhere out here. But if he wanted to be an active participant in this conversation, he was going to need to shift back.]

[She glances back to the blanket he indicated, before nodding and unfurling it, unwrapping it over the wolf's shoulders. She remembers how this worked with her mom, and taking your clothing with you was not really an option. Then she inches back and turns her body a bit.

It's one thing to not be body shy, it's another to not really know what's going to come out the other side when he shifts back.]

[That would be a mountain of a man crouching down where the big ol' wolf once sat, for the record. And although he isn't body shy (he's been shifting since he was little), he knows that not everyone is so accustomed to seeing a near stranger completely naked.

Once he's able, he pulls the blanket tighter around himself, so that she's not being bombarded with anything she'd rather not see.]

I wasn't expecting to find any other weres out here. Not too many of us last time I was around.

[When he speaks, she assumes it's safe to turn around, and she appreciates the consideration for her delicate teenage sensibilities and ... wow he is gigantic. Not a bad thing, but not really what she was expecting either.]

[He doesn't look all that enthused by this news. Mostly on account of his own experience with werewolf packs. He just assumes the worst at this point. Though if she were any indication, maybe he was wrong.]

They happen to be around the same age as you?

[For Cora, pack is everything, but she hasn't had one in a really long time. She's getting used to having other wolves around, period, but she's considering it a good thing. So far most of them haven't been dicks.

Except for Jackson, on occasion.]

One is. The other is older, but not a lot.

[That was actually good to hear. Not that he's keen on running around with a bunch of kids, but if they were still younger that meant they were less likely to be completely fucked in the head like just about every other werewolf he'd ever met.]

My name's Alcide Herveaux. [He manages to snake an arm out of the blanket without flashing her, so that he can offer up his hand.]

[Oh, there's still a good chance of being fucked in the head, but possibly in not quite the same ways. Still, she reaches across to shake his hand.]

I'll admit, it's not really what I was expecting when I decided to join.

I don't know that anyone was expecting it would come to this. [The possibility had always been there, sure. But war was supposed to be a last resort. Given all that had happened though, it wasn't like this was a decision being made lightly.]

I realize it ain't proper to ask a lady her age, but you seem a little young to be caught up in a war. [Which makes him a little more apprehensive about the whole thing than he already was.]

I'm seventeen.

[Just to be clear. So yes, she wouldn't even be able to be legally drafted if this were the states, but at the same time.]

And it's not the first time I've been caught in the middle of a war.
