There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

[ The tip of his blade thuds against leather armor, knocking the wind out of her and causing her to stagger back. She recovers quickly, bringing her blade down in a backhand slash and just barely clipping his chest (atk 17, dmg 4). Apparently she’s just really got it out for his clothes and is trying for his shirt now, but at least the blade is dulled and … doesn’t cut through it … ]

[Aedan don't mind. But he's too distracted flashing her another smile to actually bring himself to her level (attack 9). Swing and a miss. This was actually getting kind of sad for him.]

Do you feel prepared?

[ She can remember last she asked, he hadn't been on a mission since his arrival. For one of his firsts to be a war with the Andres Isle of all nations, she can only imagine how daunting it might be.

Her interest is genuine enough, but it doesn't stop her from taking another jab at him — it does, however, distract her into leaning too far into it and stabbing right past him, lunging forward and toppling over, sword skittering a few feet away (crit faillll).

[What a couple of hot messes tbh. But Aedan isn't going to thwack her in the back when she's down. He will move over to help her back to her feet--assuming she allows him to.]

I should you ask you the same. Are you all right?

[ Her hand clasps into his and she pulls herself to a kneeling position, chuckling. ]

I'd have thought you eager to take credit for distracting me.

[ She brushes hair from her face and looks up at him, hesitating on that. Slipping her hand out of his, she leans across the floor to grab her sword. ]

I promised my sword to Wynn many years ago, but this is the first I've truly been called on for it. Without a true battle, I allowed myself to think I wouldn't be sacrificing allegiance to Jon for it.
