There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

You've displayed the ability to guide the unconscious mind- make a person move or do something without any recollection of it. Unfortunately, even that might be met with skepticism, but if you'd like to show her, it could help bridge the gap of disbelief.

[The problem here was that it required Lila to want to out forth the effort to teach Lydia about her ability. And Helen could see how frustrating that could be, especially in a place like this where hundreds of seemingly impossible things could happen at any given time.]

Maybe. [ lila doesn't really care about educating lydia. she really just wants to hit her with a bible, a nice slap with the word of the lord. and the lord says stfu about shit you don't understand.

but that would be rude.

expending the energy to curse a volunteer to teach a know it all that she doesn't know it all isn't really high on lila's list of things to do. but in deference to helen she doesn't outright say no. maybe is as close as the woman is going to get, though. ]

[Helen knows to drop it. Whether they all come back in one piece to have show and tell is a depressing enough thought, and it really isn't the last conversation she wants Lila to remember them having.]

I'm proud of you, you know. [She steps closer, cautious.] The events at the Petersen residence. You handled yourself well, did the best you could with a difficult situation. [Helen doubts that people find themselves prompted to give Lila that sort of praise. She holds herself like she doesn't need it, like it would be brushed off- and it very well might, but in case she never gets the chance to say it, she wants to say it now.]

You're a remarkable woman, Lila.

[ lila stiffens, ash from her cigarette tumbling on to her heels. she doesn't get a lot of praise, can't remember ever getting much. faye is usually the one shoving it down her throat, it's easy to take from her though because faye is violent and rude about it. you will take my praise and you will like it, she caters to lila's self-confidence.

helen's praise is like a sucker punch to her lack of self-confidence and lack of self-worth. especially considering why she is being praised, for something lila considers a personal gross failure.

she doesn't say anything for a long moment, looking out at the gardens and the woods. the little vibration in her pocket is probably faye texting her that she's awake. finally, and not begrudgingly even if it seems like lila is having trouble accepting it, she nods a little. ] Thanks.

[It's more than she expected, honestly. And taking what she's getting, Helen quits while she's ahead.]

I'll see you at the briefing. If you need anything... [She trails the thought off, clearly leaving that door open, should Lila need to talk about anything more. Otherwise, she'll just head back inside.]
