There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

[Myri didn't crit fail her sense motive so yeah. She's not believing that. She lifts her head to give Vi a worried look, wishing she had something better to say.]

Do you want me to stay? [It was only because of Myri that Vi came with them the first time. She would hate staying behind, but the two people in this room are basically the only ones she would do it for.]

No. You would resent it, the team would resent it, I would resent it. [ she already hates that she chose to stay behind, she would hate forcing myri and finnick to do the same. and she knows they honestly would if she asked. ] The people of Andres deserve our help. [ a beat. ] Your help.

Our help. [Myri corrects again.] You're always with us, Vi. Even if you can't go, you'll be there if another way.

That was super gay, Finnick. [ calling u out on it. halfheartedly because she is just not in it. but mostly she's just deflecting because she... won't be helping and that is just an inescapable fact. she's effectively useless, an archer with no one to shoot, a half assed healer with no one to heal.

Kat doesn't know that! She's just going to think I left her there. And-- [ she cuts herself off from going off on a tangent about francesca because she knows the woman is one of finnick's best friends so she just snaps her mouth shut. ] If Elena's gone there, she's going to think the same thing. Amaranth is going to think he wasn't worth it. [ her babies. ]

Kat and Elena could never think that of you, Vi. They know how much you love them. And you know how much Amaranth adores you. He could never think you didn't care about him. [She smiles, even if it's hard to fight the worry out of her eyes.]

There will be questions, surely. Because you are just as important to them as they are to you. But they'll all understand.

[ her expression betrays that she doesn't quite believe them. the last thing she wants is for kat to think that vi didn't want to be there for her. the smile she summons up to return myri is wan at best. her fingers creep up to rub her shoulder where myri had healed one of her gunshot wounds. it's the right choice, for her, to stay behind.

but vi kind of sucks at thinking of herself. ]

Finnick. [Myri scolds him lightly, even as she laughs at the end.]

They won't disagree. I know they won't.

[ with a quiet sigh, vi smiles the tiniest bit before she gets off the bed. ] Okay, okay, I get the point. I'm gonna go..

[ make bad life choices :) ] Sleep in my own bed for once, who'da thunk.

[Myri jumps up out of bed too so she can kiss Vi on the cheek and walk her out.]

[now that she's gone ... finnick doesn't say anything but he is definitely making some sexy bedroom eyes at myri. yep.]

[Myri closes the door after Vi leaves, leaning back against it and hearing that click as it latches. This girl doesn't even try to have a will save against those bedroom eyes. Teeth tugging at her bottom lip, she still manages to look shy about it, even if they're doing it on the regular.]

It looks like we have the rest of the night to ourselves.

Looks like. [he gets up to join her against the door ... so he can make out with her. why else? he starts kissing her mouth, then moves down to her neck.]

[Her arms move around his neck, kissing him back eagerly. She doesn't want to think about how this may be their last night together like this, but... it could happen. So she's going to appreciate every second she has with him here and now. Pressing up on tip toe, she leans her head to one side to allow him better access to her neck, because wow he is good at that. He damn well should be for how long they've been together.]
