There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

Yeah. I don't know, my parents are like ... you know how when Tamagotchis were a thing, you'd get one and be really into it for like a week and then kind of forget about it? That's like my parents ... with actual children.

It's ... not bad? They think I'm in med school at Oxford now so ... that kind of sucks.

Do you ever have to like... forge photographs of yourself in front of Oxford to send home on postcards?

How ancient are you? You know Photoshop exists, right?

It's not that far. I took a day trip like, once, took a lot of pictures while I was on the tour, and now I have ammunition forever. I even brought different outfits and changed my hair a few times for the pictures. Not that they'll ... ever notice, but whatever.

Um, yeah? I'm very thorough. [also she is smiling too.] I could be a secret agent on top of a doctor. That's how legit I am.

[she wrinkles her nose] Yeah, but ... I usually don't feel like a secret agent here. I feel like a college student at the weirdest uni ever.

Guess I wouldn't know. Never went.

Uh ... it's sort of like living at the castle, only everyone is in their late teens, early twenties and instead of going on missions you go to class every week.

No offense, but I'll take missions over classes for the rest of my life, any day of the week.

I know, right? It's so overrated, you honestly didn't miss anything.

If I really need to know something, I'm sure there's someone here who's a local expert anyway.

How are you at political upheaval?

[pathology]

[she scrunches her nose.] Okay ... maybe not everything. You caught me.

Guess we're still on our own for that one. Suppose Wynn knows a thing or two though.

You think he really has it under control?

Doesn't he always? [ he says the words, but they sound hollow, and instead of the smile he tries for, he sort of grimaces, looking out the window. one hand knots into a fist against his thigh. ]
