There are plenty of missions that return to the castle a success - most of them, even. The defeated air of the solemn group that returns from their diplomatic mission to Andres Isle to hear the demands of dictator Dimitris Sarandis makes it quite clear that this wasn't one of those.

Starting with Sarandis' actual demands - for all Knights to withdraw from Andres under penalty of death, or for Wynn to offer his own head in return for Thomas' safe return - and ending with the unexpected, disturbing confession from Kat that she intended to stay behind on the island because she had "fallen in love with" the dictator, the events of the island made it very clear that Sarandis was cannily playing his hand to get the Knights where he wanted them.

Fred Jr. shoves open the doors with his unnatural strength, stalking in ahead of the group into the lobby. Whoever's on desk duty isn't going to have to roll a high wisdom check to see that these people are pissed... and distraught... and a myriad of other emotions on the bad end of the scale.

*I am changing the date of the briefing log and Andres log/live session to have taken place in September, to avoid us being in backdated hell forever, and to allow for a September squiring ceremony before apps are closed. Carry on... in the future!

[She considers that for a moment, before shrugging.]

Would they have busted you for that all the way out in the snow fields? For all they know you could have been helping fight hypothermia.

I have no doubt they have people nestled in igloos looking for just that. [ too bad, so sad. ]

[She laughs a bit at that.]

I guess you'll just have to wait for the lovely Russian men to all come to you.

Actually, there is a fine ass Russian boy here. [ he smiles like yeah, i tapped that. ] I stole him from the frozen tundra while you were busy.

[ can't stop, won't stop. after a second and a quick grin, he tugs her forward for another hug. ]

I know it's no use telling you not to be brave. You're annoying like that.

[She leans into that hug, letting her head rest against his shoulder.]

You're just as annoying. I know that from experience.

[ his only answer is a soft hrmph. he knows she is right, just like he is right. they're idiots, that's why they're here in the first place.

eventually he pulls back and kisses her softly, hands lifting to cradle her face between his hands. they aren't often serious so when they fall into it, it is often incredibly serious and grave circumstances. ]

If you're going to be brave, do good.

[Her hands come up to rest against his wrists, and she nods. Don't be brave just to be brave, be brave and be smart about it. Hero 101. She fully intends on making it out of this alive, so she's not going to take any chances.]

I'll be okay. Don't worry.

[She gives him a small smile.]

I haven't gotten eaten so far running errands for Helen, I'm not about to start getting sloppy now.

[ hrmph. he frowns. that it not what he wants to think about, her being eaten. thanks obama. ]

Better not. [ he sighs, not yet pulling away. ] I'd better go check on Cora.

[She nods, before taking a step back to let him go.]

I've gotta get ready anyway. I'll see you at the briefing.
