The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Yeah, we've gotten that before. [They've been mistaken for a couple before, instead. Not funny.] Seems like everyone except me has managed to run into him.

Yeah, I only ran into him briefly when he first arrived. [ Not that briefly. Ha ha ha. ] He's been off on some mission for months now. Are you in the same line of work?

Hunter, yeah. It kind of runs in the family.

[Sam doesn't even know the half of it yet, probably never will, but it's true enough.]

Neat. [ Says Kate, who knows zero about it except the cool parts. But that's probably every job people in the Knights do, isn't it? Sounds pretty awesome until you get to the catch. ] Sounds like an interesting line of work. I guess you guys didn't get out to New York much. I crossed paths with some hunters there but I'm sure I'd remember you two.

[familybusiness]

I don't know if that's the word I'd use. It's crazy, that's for sure. And dangerous.

[He shakes his head.]

No more often than any other town, but I've never been to New York on this side, anyway.

[alsohawkeye]

New Yorks are always New York, whatever universe you're in. [ Kate smiles crookedly, sounding pretty confident about that. ]

[familybusiness]

So it's loud, dirty and full of jerks who think they're better than everyone else?

[He's probably joking. Mostly.]

[alsohawkeye]

[ Kate laughs. ] Wow, I'm really going to have to work on my first impression if loud, dirty, jerk is what you're getting here.

Well, there are exceptions to every rule.

[ His brother pretty much already had her pants off by now so it was always going to be an uphill battle.

Kate laughs a little, and flashes him a smile that's less genuine than before, more well-practiced socialite politely pretending she's not a little offended. She shifts her weight like she's going to walk away. ]

[And he probably catches that (wis 15) but he...doesn't know how to recover so he just lets her gracefully exit.]

[ Kate was anticipating some effort to save it, actually, and is a little disappointed when he doesn't try. But given the roll he was on maybe it's for the best? Quit while you're... not as behind as you could be?
