The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

It's a bit much.

[She shifts uneasily, then brings up the question.] Are you -- I mean, you're Cora Hale. I knew of a Hale, back home, Derek and Peter. Are you related to them?

[Even though she knows Stiles and knows that people know her from Beacon Hills even if she doesn't know them, the mention of Derek and Peter from someone she doesn't know still throws her for a loop. Derek, not so much, apparently he was alive this whole time and she just didn't know, but Peter too? And that nice bit of shock still shows on her face (will save 6).]

Peter's alive?

[There's a beat as she shakes her head, trying to pull herself back together again.]

Sorry. I'm Derek's sister.

[She is a bit stunned to realize that, of course, she might not realize that Peter is alive. He'd been in a hospital after the fire and who even knew who knew about that.

Actually -- Derek's sister is alive?]

I didn't... I thought, except Peter and Derek, that everyone died in the fire. [Her bluntness is followed with an apologetic glance. Sorry for just dropping that reminder in there.]

[She gives a bit of a shrug. That doesn't really surprise her. If she thought that Derek and Peter were dead, then there's no reason that they wouldn't think the same of her.]

I don't think they knew I was alive. I was on my own for a while.

[She can't confirm that though, because Derek ... doesn't remember anything.]

Peter was in the hospital for a while. It was a coma. He... woke up, though and terrorized my best friend. [She's not sure how else to say it.]

He -- [She isn't sure what to say about him being the alpha that bit Scott either. Because, she knows that Peter killed Laura to become the alpha.]

Terrorized?

[ ... That doesn't sound right. That doesn't sound right at all. It doesn't make any sense but she knows what a coma can do to someone like them. It's like being trapped in your own body.]

Terrorized how?

He attacked her. Left her for dead on a football field during one of our formal dances. We thought she might turn... [She still remembers seeing her in the hospital. The vivid image burned in her memory.]

She didn't, but something else happened. Derek killed Peter, buried him under the house. He haunted Lydia somehow... made her think she was insane. Used her to resurrect himself. I don't really know how it all worked, but I know it wasn't right.

[Her eyes narrow a bit at that because it sounds so ... out of control. She doesn't know why she thought this Lydia girl might turn, Peter was a beta. He wasn't even in line to become the alpha and he wouldn't have been in a coma if he was one. And none of this sounds "right," by Allison's description, or Cora's, but she doesn't know how much of this to believe.

(All those books Peter used to read, all those rituals he used to learn, all that information he consumed simply for the pleasure of having the knowledge, she doesn't question how he might know to do something like this. Peter would know. But she can't see him using it, torturing some poor girl just to serve his own ends.)

Her eyes pinch close after a moment, before shaking her head.]

This doesn't make any sense.

[She knows it sounds surreal, but she also knows that it's her life. She lived it. She visited Lydia. She was in the woods, ready to do what Kate wanted... she didn't, but she still watched as Peter ripped her throat out.]

He killed my aunt. Ripped her throat out, right in front of me. I'm sorry, but he's not a good man. Maybe he was when you knew him, but... all he's caused my friends is damage and horror.

[She grits her teeth for a moment, wanting to fire back that this couldn't be the Peter she knew, but she knows she hasn't seen him in years. Killing Allison's aunt doesn't mean anything to her right now, and she doesn't know why Peter would do that. All the context as to who this woman would be isn't there, and she doesn't know how to even begin processing this information.

She needs time to step back from this, to figure out if she was saying this to just mess with her, or if it's the truth, but why would she lie? Why would anyone lie about something like that?

But if there's one person that she doesn't want this information getting to, it's her brother. He doesn't have any context. He doesn't have anything to try and strike the balance between, and if this does turn out to be a trick, she doesn't want him falling for it. So she bites back the violent reaction, even though the itch for it is there, but if it's true, and Peter did kill her aunt, she can't blame Allison for seeing him as a monster. She would probably do the same if she ever found out who burned her family alive.

She just takes a breath and takes a step back, trying to put some distance there so she can collect herself.]

Don't tell Derek. He ... he doesn't know anything. Don't tell him.

[He shouldn't have to live with the questions that Cora is going to have to until she gets more information.]

I shouldn't have said anything... I didn't realize you didn't know. Everyone seems to have different memories.

[When Cora asks her not to tell Derek she nods.] I kind of got that impression... [She glances up.] I spoke to him, but he didn't seem to remember anything.

[She gives a bit of a shrug. It's not her fault, and there's a part of her that's glad she knows. She knows the odds of Peter both falling through the Veil and finding his way to the Knights are slim - she's still astonished that from what she knows about the Veil she and Derek both found their way here to begin with. She doesn't expect to get that lucky twice. But if he does, she would want to be prepared if he wasn't the person she remembered.

But there's still a part of her that desperately wants Allison to be wrong.]

I hadn't seen them since before the fire. The last thing I remember from Beacon Hills is being stuck in this bank vault. But Derek doesn't remember anything at all - even me. I'm ... I'm trying to tell him everything, but I'm also trying not to overwhelm him either.

The bank vault? [Allison remembers there being a girl and Boyd.]

With Erica and Boyd?

[She nods at the mention of the bank vault. Yeah, that sounds about right. But at the same time ... ]

I don't know who Erica and Boyd are. But I was there, and then I was in London.

[Veilnesia. Whoops.]

Deucalion was holding you -- in an abandoned bank. [She pats her pockets and retrieves a pen and then draws the logo of the bank on her palm. She lifts it to show her.]

With this on the floor?

[She nods a bit.]

Yeah, it was a hecatolite vault. Kept us from feeling the moon.

[Her head tips to the side as she watches her for a moment.]

Were you there?

I -- I found the bank and I tried to help. I found Erica... in a closet. They just left her there. I came to the vault door, Derek and Scott had already arrived - it had been a trap, because Deucalion knew you hadn't turned and it was a full moon.

Mountain ash lined the vault and you were attacking Scott and Derek. I broke the line and you got loose. They tracked you, bringing you toward the school. I tracked you on my own and helped once I realized you weren't going the way they wanted.

I was heading back home, then I was here.

[She pauses before shaking her head.]

I guess that happened after I came through the Veil? I mean, I had that turn here, in London. That's how the Knights found me.

[Allison blinks. She hadn't expected that.]

It happened after? How can that...? [She's not sure how that can be possible. Lydia mentioned that Stiles seems to know more, that Lydia had been missing memories, but if Cora's turn just happened here instead-- that means she was in two places at the same time.]

It doesn't make any sense.

[She shrugs. Don't ask her how this works, she's not exactly a science-minded person.]

I don't really know how the Veil works. I just know that for me, it didn't happen in the bank. Or in Beacon Hills.

[It almost makes more sense than her not having all of her memories, but if there's no way to know... she'll just continue in this cloud of doubt.]

I won't tell Derek. It's not my place to... it wasn't my place to say it to you, either.

No, it's okay.

[The gratitude is there about keeping it from Derek. But at the same time, she knows that they can't keep everything from them.]

One of us should know.

[She realizes suddenly that she hasn't even told Cora her name.]

I'm Allison, by the way. Allison Argent.

[And at the name Argent there's ... nothing. No recognition, no nagging feeling that that's something she should know. She doesn't know how she knows so much about her family, but that's a discussion for another time. They've had enough of that for one night.]

Cora. Nice to meet you.

[She already knows the "Hale" part, obviously.]

[It is odd that there isn't any sort of hint of recognition there. Allison had expected her family's reputation to come to Cora's mind, but it's clear that part of Beacon Hills is gone for Cora. Probably for the best.]
