The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Faith smirks, amused at the thought of a tiny Jack being taught how to do some stiff proper dance.]

Yeah? Is that just what kids do around here; learn proper dancing or was that more what you did when you were a kid?

By 'around here' do you mean London? Or here in the Knighthood? Neither of my parents were Knights, I can assure you.

[Okay, look, Faith isn't the brightest bulb in the box. Don't ask her what her idea of going out to the bar entails... BUT she has to admit that she sort of thought he was that whole 8TH GENERATION KNIGHT thing.]

No running around with a sword pretending to be a knight? See, that was really cute in my head.

On the contrary. I was more inclined to play with a chemistry set. My mother was a scientist, and she kept them about the house.

It was my father who impressed the military side of things upon me, I suppose, but I saw him considerably less.

My folks weren't exactly the imparting knowledge type, unless it was about booze and falling asleep in any piece of furniture.

If you didn't see your dad a lot, how come you still ended up a knight?

I found my way to the Knights after both my parents had passed on. I suppose I was looking for a way to make my own mark on the word, and providence, in a way, lent a hand in leading me to encounter some Knights in the field.

What's a providence? [It's hard for her to follow his reasons when she doesn't know the word he's using.]

Divine providence, I meant. The hand of fate, and the gods.

Right, right. [Faith nods.]

I'm not sure if I believe in any of that stuff.

You have every right to believe or disbelieve whatever you wish, of course. I'm simply speaking from my experience, and what I've come to put faith in. I certainly don't mean to preach.

[Faith's brow furrows, shaking her head.]

It's fine. You weren't preaching, trust me. I've heard plenty of lectures on destiny and fate. Kinda part of the whole Slayer thing -- pretty sure it's even in the brochure. I just figure there's gotta be a point where the rest of it is up to you.

On that we'd have to agree. But I assume that would have something to do with why you've chosen to be here.

I guess that's true. [She might brush it off as not wanting to go back to prison, but really she just wants to make sure she keeps working toward that redemption that Angel said is a never ending situation.]

I should let you get back to your quiet.

[Faith nods, lifting her chin a bit with an honest smile.]

You too, Jack. [She almost leaves him with parting advice, but opts to just nod and turn to walk away. She's mostly relieved he didn't try to teach her any of those dances.]
