Arrival in the city involved picking up any weapons or equipment that they had sent to meet them here and moving into their oh-so-fancy hotel rooms on the top floor. It consists of four adjoining rooms with a shared living room space and kitchenette. Each bedroom has two separate beds and roomies are:

Kat & Gar
Buffy & Myri
Martha & Dumage
Spike & Sven

Mark's agreed to sleep on the couch, since there aren't any spaces with five separate adjoining rooms available.

Gar's new job will begin on Monday, which gives the Knights the weekend to explore the city if they like, do research on the Hoffman Institute, scope out the Institute's campus, set up surveillance plans, or otherwise unwind before the real work starts. Feel free to start threads for anything, and use subject lines to denote which day it occurs on! Also don't be afraid to jack multiple people into threads, as now is a great time for some TEAM BUILDING 8) ... Try not to kill each other, in other words.]

Welll, I guess in our line of work, it's sort of never say never - I mean, we have some tieflings who work for the Knights and if anybody's hardwired for evil it's gotta be those guys - but it's gotta be hella rare. Like mythical rare. But I guess I've never really met one yet.

R-Right. So, very not your average, garden variety vamp, then. [ She looks down briefly, reaching up to tug at her neckline. ] But, it's possible. I mean, it could happen. Even though they're all ... evil, soulless and suck-y.

[Wis check of 20 means...] Is there a reason you're bringing this up?

[slays]

Hm? [ Bluff check 22. She shrugs. ] It's nothing, really. I was just thinking, 'cause, you know, me and Myri caught this movie earlier -- Van Helsing. Have you seen it?

[Kat looks... not really convinced. But she keeps her features somewhat even] ... Yeah, that was a good one. Hooray for hotel cable, huh?

[slays]

Seriously. I was just thinking, like, how cool would it be to actually do that stuff. But, of course, secret organizations for that and all. [ She hesitates, then looks over. ] Does that secret hunt-y exterminate-y organization have a name?

Sure does. It's called the Hellsing Organization. [She lets that sink in, before glancing over at Buffy] Because real life Vanhelsing's the guy who started it.

[slays]

[ If she were drinking, this would be a spittake. ] -- What? The real huh? You -- No way. Uh uh. That was a movie. As in fiction. As in there is no studly Hugh Jackman starting some big scary freemason society.

Pretty sure that whole truth is stranger than fiction clause applies. Or maybe I'm thinking of 'art reflects life'...

Right ... [ she considers this for a moment. ] So, this Hellsing Organization. Are they allies of ours? Is that why you're all in the know gal?

[shootfirst]

Ugh. Way no. Not that they're our enemies, exactly, I mean technically they're all queen-and-country-certified secret ops but they're also religious whackjobs who pretty much hate anyone getting in their way. Which they consider us to be doing whenever we try to take on anything roughly related to the undead in the entire country.

[slay]

But, if they're trying to wipe out all the -- [ god, it still feels a little weird to say ] vampires, then shouldn't they want all the help they can get? I mean, hello, big evil.

[shootfirst]

Ya'd think so, huh? But they've got a pretty big head about the whole thing and they really don't like the fact that we help out a lot of Shadowkind that most people would just dismiss as big evil.

[slays]

So, the vampire exterminators also happen to moonlight as bigots. Good to know.

Super heavy on the ironic side, since their secret weapon is a vampire.

[slay]

Their secret what is a huh?

Yeah, he's like their... pet or something. I don't know.

[slays]

Okay, raise your hand if this is reeking of major sketch. [ She lifts a hand briefly. ] IF they hate them so much, why would they work with one?

[shootfirst]

Supposedly because he's totally under their control? Which, if you ask me, creepy slave vibes going on with that whole thing.

[OH HEY PIZZA PLACE] But he's mondo powerful, so there's not much we can do about it.

[slays]

There's a good plan. Beat evil by doing evil. Gee, why didn't anyone else think of that. [ She rolls her eyes. ] I get that vampires aren't good. Soulless, inhuman things. But, enslaving one? That's just ... ookie.

Yet another on a long list of reasons why we try to avoid working with them.

Starting to get the why on that, yeah. [ She shakes her head, then goes to ask the hostess to seat them. They're led back to a cozy booth. It's wonderful. ]

[She moves into the booth as far as she can, glancing around the place] I love a restaurant where you can write on the walls.

Heck, I love anywhere you can write on the walls. You should see my room at HQ.

[slays]

[ Buffy scoots into it opposite Kat. ] You write on your walls? You know, most people just settle for hanging paintings. If your room looks anything like mine, I'm surprised you even found the wall space to write on. It's like crossapalooza in there.

Not so much with the holy rolling, no.
