[ It seems that Wynn was hoping for Sir Mark Sandazhard to reveal his true identity, and to lead the charge against Dimitris Sarandis' tyrannical hold over the island he was born to rule.   He was not disappointed, and Prince Marcus Andres stands poised to lead the group of Knights who he's worked beside for two years, to confront Sarandis, save their friend Kat, and search the castle dungeon for the captive Dragon's Claw, Sir Thomas Bancroft.    

Before they attempt to answer the castle, however, it's time to reunite the Prince with his childhood friends on the Isle, who had long held out hope that he was still alive, including his once-betrothed, Countess Lara Tamon.  Their first task will be to convince Lara to make a risky attempt to draw Kat out of the castle.  

The fate of their captured allies, and the future of Andres Isle, lie in their hands.  ]

[Just kidding. Myri has a cure light wounds mass spell so instead of waiting for a line to form, she casts it quickly before Mark and Buffy get out the door. And using that roll from that tag that totally didn't happen... 18 hp to anyone who needs it. Merry Christmas.]

[Spike climbs slowly back down the stairs, shoulders slumped hopelessly. He doesn't know why everyone's wasting their time searching. He could be anywhere, and no doubt had an escape plan all ready for him to vanish and put into effect while they waste time combing the island for him.

He heads towards Elena shoving aside his anger for long enough to give her a slight smile. At least they got her back. There's one upside to this whole mess.]

Been a while, pet. You've been missed.

[doubletake]

[Again, her expression is guarded as Spike makes his way over. Of everyone here, he's one of the two people who should be the most upset with her.

Her expression is almost stony, giving away none of the surprise she finds at his words (will save 30).]

Really? [She says it as if it's a preposterous idea.] I can't imagine you're speaking for everyone.

[wynn]

[ kat follows jack out, and wynn straightens up to standing. without looking over, he says firmly from across the room: ] Sir Gilbert.

[doubletake]

[Yeah, that's why she was being quiet...

Her shoulders visibly tense, though at least she manages not to...look like a frightened little girl as she looks away from Spike and toward his intimidating gaze(will save 18). She's clearly not as solid as she was a moment ago, though.]

I'm surprised you're even calling me that.

[What is that sir doing there, sir?]

[wynn]

Is there a reason I should not? [ he turns to study her, looking her over. ] I don't recall you tendering a formal resignation.

[doubletake]

[Her brows furrow, conflicted and confused.]

I guess I thought deliberate disobedience and a prison break would make that decision for me.

[Despite the presentation of the words, there's a lack of sass to them. It's not like she can pretend it didn't happen, and she's going to own her choices, no matter how badly the went.]

[wynn]

Your concern over the potential fate of Kyp was made quite clear in our last conversation. So, too, your desire to find the best in him, to allow him a chance to atone for what he had done.

To rescue Thomas. [ the words are flatly composed, not betraying a hint of emotion, despite the man in question being carried out of the room as they speak. ]

I choose to believe the best in my Knights, Sir Gilbert, or else I never would have allowed you to take the oath in the first place. Before any decisions are made, I will hear what you have to say on the matter.

[doubletake]

It doesn't matter anymore.

[She sure did whiff that will save (14, rolled a 3), so she starts to show signs of wear, of coming apart at the seams the longer she talks.

So she keeps it short. He'll make her talk if he has to. Of that she's pretty damn sure.]

You knew exactly why I left, and there's no other reason I would be here now. And I was right about Kyp.

[What she'd suspected, what she'd told Wynn.]

And now they're both dead, no thanks to me. What else is there to really say?

Everything that matters. [ implying she's wrong about none of this mattering, for one. but it's clear that he's not looking to start that conversation now - and also that she's right, in assuming it isn't over. he does, however, look her over with a bit of a frown, asking in a slightly quieter tone: ]

Are you alright? [ he clearly knows she isn't, but the question runs deeper than that. intentions aside, kyp's reaction to her attempt remains an unknown, and the time they spent together could have taken any number of forms. hurr hurr doppelganger jokes ]

[Rose almost looks relieved at Dean's response, nodding her reply and though she's ready to move out and start searching, the conversation between Wynn and Elena captures her attention, the brunette lingering longer than was probably polite.

The moment Elena says a word in the defense of Kyp however, Rose's face darkens, hands balling into fists and without a word, she turns and walks away from the throne room, headed back for the Great Hall with her stake still clenched in her hand.]

[She swallows, eyes glancing away, missing Rose's departure.

Of all the things she expected today from Wynn (which she wasn't expecting in the first place), concern was definitely not one of them.

She figures out the subtext there easily enough, too (wisdom 21), and she's quiet when she answers, clearly uncomfortable.]

I'm the only one that hurt him, not the other way around. [She takes a moment before she adds a bit more, to clear any doubt.] He...kept his distance.

[Which is enough for anyone in this room to catch her drift if they knew what she was referring to.]

[ dean looks ready to speak up, but gets a nat 20 wisdom check to read the room, and realize that his damn mouth doesn't really belong here rn. with that, he'll duck out silently after rose, frown set in a grim line.

hunting dimitris and the mind master might be a needle in the haystack, but it's more his territory than this is. ]

[As Wynn and Elena talk, Myri hangs back, but as the conversation continues, she slowly inches forward, closing that distance. She doesn't want to interrupt, doesn't want to say or do anything to jeopardize Wynn giving Elena a chance to come back.

From what she can tell, she had little to worry about. But isn't that how it normally goes for her?

It's the mention of if Kyp hurt her or not that twists at Myri's heart. And even when Elena confirms that she wasn't harmed, it doesn't really stop the rest of her emotions from bubbling up.

Without any sort of warning, Myri closes the remainder for the distance and throws her arms around Elena, holding her tight for as long as she might allow.

The reasons for leaving, the motivations behind it... They don't matter to Myri. Elena is here. And she's helping them, helping Myri just by being there. But all of that being unspoken might make the only words she can manage to speak that much more confusing.]

Thank you.

[For being here. For not running at the sight of them. For giving Myri hope that she might return with them, to come home when this was all over.]

[She's not expecting that either, but she can't find it in herself to even try to resist the emotion that floods through her, her arms wrapping around Myri before she can stop herself, before she can let herself feel it.

She doesn't want to, on the chance that she can't go back. She can't lose everything all over again.

She doesn't deserve to be thanked. Screaming and accusations would have been easier to take.]

I'm sorry. [Not for leaving, not for all the terrible things she's done. For failing.] You weren't supposed to even have to come here.

Of course I came. [She muffles against the girl's shoulder, eyes pressed tightly closed. Whatever responsibility Elena seems to have taken on for this whole thing completely escapes Myri. In her mind, this is still her squire, her ward to protect and teach.]

I could never leave you.

[wynn]

[ wynn turns his gaze up to the balcony when myri and elena share their private moment, and he seems to be done addressing the latter for now. this is clearly not what he considers the time or place. ] I will alert the others to expand the search. Your efforts will be appreciated. [ with that, he moves out of the throne room as well, casting a last look at the fallen body of asha at the base of the steps. ]

Well hooray for pyrrhic victories, or whatever. [Archer sneers at Woodhouse. The geezer ignored him, so Archer is going to pistol whip him. Atk 30, Damage 10.]
[And with that, Archer rounds and heads toward the door, staring at Elena as he storms by, slowing as he nears the exit;]

You know, you should take notes. Their [He gestures to at the last place they saw the Mind Master & Dimitris] disappearing act was much flashier.

[His tone is a bit caustic, and he stomps off to try to track down the DICKtator.]

[somewhere between the abundance of ppl's feelings in this room and everyone's individual dramatic flounces, will has an internal britney spears meltdown and blurts out] It's my fault Kyp is dead.

[ is his confession less dramatic if it's synced up with woodhouse hitting the floor, unconscious? how many hit points do you think an old man has, really. ]

[Elena stays close to Myri, the one thing keeping her from emotionally shutting down, and she watches Wynn leave, only to have Archer approach and say...well...that.

At least someone is angry, but only Archer would be upset by that. Though she has to wonder if there's...more to it than that.

Anger she can take, though. Shouldering that is much easier than any amount of real disappointment.

Which is why her face twists oddly at Will's words, because he's so very, very wrong, and she doesn't really want to talk about it. But she's also not going to let anyone else take that guilt. It's hers.]

No, it isn't. I'm the one that pulled that trigger.

[Surprise, Myri. Elena killed Kyp.

Her eyes move to the now...unconscious old man. Thanks, Archer.

It looked like he worked here though, so Elena's not...particularly inclined to help him oops.]

[will's eyes dart over towards woodhouse but he also ... doesn't move. HE'S HAVING WORDS WITH ELENA OK STOP BURDENING PPL WITH YOUR OLD AGE.]

Rose told me to empty his gun. I took out the magazine, but didn't clear the chamber. I don't know why. I just — I wasn't thinking. Maybe I was trying to help. It doesn't matter what I was thinking now, anyway. If it hadn't been for me, pulling the trigger wouldn't have meant anything.

[Elena frowns, her eyes darkening, but not for the reasons one might think. It's because in order to make him free himself from guilt, she's going to have to cut herself open repeatedly, lay out every mistake she's made.

And it's because of what that implies about Rose.]

The only reason he's even here is because I asked him to be. The only reason he was even in that tower was because I screwed up and got caught. The only reason he got shot at all was because I took his gun.

[She levels an intense gaze at him.]

All you did was give him a way to defend himself against Dimitris Sarandis when my friend was apparently going to send him defenseless. You didn't do anything wrong.

[mydesigns]

[he glances down, only offering a weak shrug of his shoulders and an utterance about rose's life choices:] I didn't think it was right. Asking for a favor and putting a death sentence in the fine print.

[doubletake]

That's because it isn't. You don't send someone to do your dirty work without a weapon and hide down the hallway.

[Oh good, now she's seething. I'm sure this will go over later.

She looks back at Myri, running her hands through her locks, as if her head is about to explode.]

He's still up there with those guards. I have to get him out of there.
