[ Having spent months scrying on areas of the Island scouted out by Sir Bancroft and Sir Chessing, Hasmed is able to send a few groups to the Island via greater teleport spells, with a fairly small margin for error, as to where they're going to land. The Shadowkind prison teams land flawlessly, and the very big group appears in a clearing in the middle of the woods, abruptly finding themselves surrounded by trees and mostly darkness. The moon is in its last quarter, and with the trees so thick above them, there are only patches of light that filter down here and there. Those with darkvision or lowlight vision can see perfectly, but anyone with normal vision may find themselves squinting to see much of anything.

The teleport spell only works if the entire group is physically connected, so when they arrive, Wolverine yanks his hand off Nathan's shoulder, and gives Drax a Look like stop touching me if you value your hand. Eric runs his Drakenet app to determine their location, then announces: "Dead on." In other words, no spell mishap sending them miles off target. Beside them all, Lan's mount, Daisy, stamps her feet slightly, obviously unnerved by the magic. He whispers "Whoa, there" and reins her in, causing her to settle. ]

but actual fab job on the rest team, because the hydra whips its heads back and forth wildly as it's assailed from all sides. it tries desperately to heal over all the damage as it takes it, but there's only so much that can be healed, and as lan continues to maul the thing with vicious claws, it finally roars and slumps to the ground in a tangle of necks and blood.

[ Alanna backs off as it slumps to the ground, but her grip remains tight on her sword. She shoots Sam a sideways look, since he knew about this thing. ]

It's not like to come back from that now, is it?

[Sam curses under his breath, wincing.]

He looks over at Alanna, shaking his head.]

No, it won't. Well done, guys.

[ She sheathes her blade, looking around to assess the others. She'd hardly been tracking them while the battle raged. ]

Anybody on their last legs?

[ the werewolf rips one of the heads off the corpse with a roar, before tossing it aside, whipping his head around as if in search of more enemies. it takes a moment for his heaving shoulders to subside as he realizes the battle is done, and he gets a hold of himself. with a disgruntled growl, he reaches down and scoops up his scattered pieces of armor, dragging them in the direction of the forest line. ]

[Sam looks off into the distance before he digs into his pants for his phone and proceeds to distract himself with it. He'll just be over here...doing that.]

What's that about, then?

[ She approaches Sam, deciding it must be important Knight business that they should all be privy to. ]

[He doesn't look up, but he answers quickly.]

My brother's in the castle. If that's where these things are headed, then I need to talk to him. He doesn't have this kind of back-up.

[ it is something that affects everyone, because as sam is staring at his phone, a message comes from wynn, asking for back up against the ember guards north of their position.

at the same time, lan comes out of the woods, looking pale and disheveled, and incredibly tired. ]

[He looks over at the rest of the group to relay the message.]

Wynn is requesting back-up to the north.

Then we best get moving.

[ Alanna spares a look at Lan, as if to confirm that he's up for it. ]

[ lan meets her look with a sharp one of his own, looking poised for all the worst reactions from his teammates and clearly defensive about it before anyone even says anything.

when she doesn't, however, he simply nods, and moves past her, armor clanking, to pick up his sword. ] We've no time to waste.

[ There's going to be a talk, Lan. You're not getting out of a talk with the Old (Wo)Man Club. But now's not the time, not when Wynn's looking for support. She sets off with him to the North, drawing her blade once more. ]

[Sam follows after them, giving Lan a passing glance before he focuses on what's coming.

Werewolves having control over their change is new to him, too.

So he'll distract himself by...loading a new clip in his Excalibur as they move.]

[Well... shit. Faith got shot a second time on this mission, but thankfully somewhere in there she noticed Gus waving her over and she'll manage to get herself to him and hopefully get some healing before they head out... again.]

[ he cautiously meets gus' eyes - and there's almost an apology in his own. he doesn't say anything at the moment, however, raising his voice to address the group instead, as they troop on. ] If Wynn's group is in need of aid, we're going to want to prepare. I can bless four of your weapons - those going into melee would be best to take it. [ he nods to jaime, klaus, and faith, for certain ] Alanna, I know your blood boils to fight, but we'll likely need you to be keeping us alive, not in the front lines. [ to sam: ] I can bless that cannon of yours all the same.

[Jaime nods gravely.] I would appreciate the aid.

[Then he turns to Alanna because he is the actual worst and adds:] And you needn't worry, my lady. We'll protect you.

Oh, stuff it.

[ Alanna seethes at him, reaching forward to shove him back by the front of his armor plates. Turning away from him, she offers a nod to Lan. This is too serious to let Jaime Lannister's snide remarks keep her from doing what she well knows is best. ]

I'll see to it that you all come out of this alive. [ To the others: ] If there's anyone who's adverse to holy magic, you'd do well to warn me now. [ Aren't you glad she burned Spike first. ]

[Sam gives Lan a nod. Supernatural solidarity. There's things about himself he's not comfortable with too, and it's easier to see it in other people when you know how it feels.]
