[ Meanwhile, a group of ten lands on... the roof of a building in the upscale sector of town. The half-moon lights the sky around them enough for any of them to get a good glance at what surrounds them. In the distance, moonlight plays across the river dividing the city, and the roofs of the Shadow village homes can be barely made out. But here, there are opulent old-money homes scattered here and there, and a number of commercial buildings coursing up and down the main thoroughfare. Colin doublechecks the location on the phone, which lights up his face eerily as he checks the screen, and then he slides it into his pocket, turning to nod the others. ]

We find ourselves on scenic Andres Isle, atop the historic Grand Hotel.  The very heart of the Island, ladies and gentlemen.  Advising caution seems unnecessary.

cordelia mutters to whoever's nearby her as she surveys the crowd with dissatisfaction: ] This island has a serious shortage of hot, young rich men. Though they're really cornering the market on old rich guy.

I dunno, he just — I was explaining the rules to him and he passed out. Uh, Slinn? I think his name was Slinn.

Let me take a look at him. I'm medically trained. [ she gestures to alex to set slinn down somewhere HEADS OUT TO WHERE SLINN IS STILL LYING ON THE COLD HARD GROUND so she can fake examine him, while stone holds up both hands to quiet the murmuring nobles.

"Hey," he barks in a commanding voice. "Let's keep order here. He's in good hands." he glances at emma like I ASSUME HE'S IN GOOD HANDS AND UR FRIENDS DIDN'T POISON HIM 8| ]

[ A paper thin smile presses on Emma's lips, strained as hell. It begins to curl back as she turns away from Stone, composure fading fast as she shoots Alex a look. Moving to his side, she drops her voice. ]

I do hope that was completely necessary. He's not the only one we'll need to concern ourselves with, and you've just guaranteed we can't do anything so grandiose to the rest of them.

[he mutters back from behind clenched teeth] Completely fucking necessary. [also suck his dick. are they still on mind speaker phone??? whoops.]

[ Let's play nice, now. Yes, in other words. You still are.

Meanwhile, Lara's parents and co. approach Stone, less concerned about Slinn having the vapors than with their daughter. He immediately holds up a hand to slow their questions, assuring them: "It's alright, I found them. They're down at the station. It seemed safer to keep them there than to try and move them at this point." his bluff check is... passable ... ]

[ Emma cuts Stone a look, wary and entirely undeterred by Alex's snide thoughts. As if she hasn't heard worse, completely incidentally. Her eyes begin to scan the crowd. Does anyone recognize the Von Eckridges? We'll need to deal with them, as well, before we make our move. ]

[he might as well start scanning the room, too.

No? What do they look like?]

[ lissa dips her head toward the couple that was all snippy in the face of lara's parents' fretting.

If I had to hazard a guess... ]

[ colin nods slightly in response to lissa's identification.

Have we a plan for dealing with them? ]

[Adam is like aren't you supposed to be in charge tho. But he will try to be helpful anyway.

It might be a stretch, but we can try making it seem like one or both of them are hallucinating and blame the gas leak. It would give us a reason to clear the room, at least. In the commotion, it might be easier to incapacitate them and make it look like they passed out too.

Then again, it might just make everyone panic or look too suspicious since Alex pulled it with Slinn already. At least he has an idea to bounce around at all ok.]

[ Suspicious, given the Slinn situation.

Emma purses her lips, eyeing the crowd.

But not without merits. Perhaps we could frame them for Slinn's sudden collapse. In their hallucination, they might have seen him as an enemy. We can deteriorate their credibility. ]

[Why is he not surprised that Emma is the one to jump in with the best course of action.

Making them seem like they're hallucinating should be easy enough, so discrediting them could work--especially if they start trying to rally the others. They'll just look crazy.

Alex was alone with Slinn when he passed out though, so I'm not sure we'd be able to connect the two events without some creative thinking.]

[ Sir Harvey's still listening in out there. She could come in and declare it poison, as the one inspecting the body - after we've done something to put them in a poor light already. ]

[ Well, Emma takes to examining her nails, thoughtful. I could provoke them into a mindless panic—say the stress got to them—but I'm fairly certain it would break Wynn's rules. About active mind control. Huff puff. If Sir Harvey could attribute it to poison, they might reasonably be eager to cause a ruckus to distract us from their crime. ]

[ I believe, actually, colin thinks carefully, that Wynn meant we cannot simply force them to say and think things that will support Marcus' return to power, put words in their mouth, so to speak, to serve our ends. What you are proposing... I find it difficult to imagine he would be opposed. ]

[ Splendid. Her gaze lifts to fix on Adam. What do you think, dear? A rowdy scuffle and a defensive insistence that there's no reason for them all to be cooped up here, just in time for Harvey's 'diagnosis'? ]

[ Emma targets the couple that Lissa pointed out, waving Adam to join her. Have you learned yet to bend the will of another? Because while Emma can handle both with only a bit more effort, she'd certainly appreciate the help. They do, though, need to be close enough to plant the seeds of whispered commands. ]

Don't be afraid to blame each other. That's marriage, after all. [ She snaps her fingers, as if remembering something. ] Oh! But don't be too quick about it. Wait five minutes. Mingle first. Wouldn't want anyone thinking I put ideas in your head.

both of them adopt a strange, distracted gaze for a moment, as if they weren't really listening when she talked, and are trying to remember what she just said. the baroness offers a grimace of a smile as emma moves away, and then the two of them exchange a bewildered look, before moving as one to go speak with some of the other nobles.

meanwhile, cordelia is trying to keep order in the wake of all this chaos and mostly failing, the natives beginning to get restless while waiting to hear about slinn. ] Hey, we're still playing here! How about another volunteer? One with a ... stronger heart, maybe.

[ not long after, nessa interrupts, barging back into the room, aspect grave. lord green looks up, and asks: "How is he?", evincing mild concern. ] He'll recover. [ her eyes dart around the room, calculating, accusing. ] No thanks to someone's efforts.
