[So, as September winds to an end, Wynn demands all those Knights on Andres take a break from toiling away to fix the Isle, and return to London to celebrate the new large batch of incoming squires. After the horrors of losing teammates, it seems fitting to celebrate what they can.

Failboat travels back in a private plane that Mark may have stolen from Dimitris' airfield. Sup. With everyone on board, however, he looks a little grim when they're in the air, and stands in the entranceway from the cockpit, looking out at them for a moment, before clearing his throat. ]

I've uh, got something to talk to you guys about.

Yeah, I'm not sure anything makes that better, Spike.

[rationalizes]

[ ignoring the peanut gallery ] Then you found something? In Dumage's room?

[wynn]

I am interested to hear what Sir Spike may have to say. [ in other words shut up y'all ]

[bigbad]

[He glares around at...basically everyone who isn't Wynn or Gar.]

Yeah, she left me a letter. And as usual, Mark's a bloody fool who doesn't know anything.

[He opens it up and reads it aloud, skipping only the line about their date. If they read it themselves they'll see it, and it's not a secret, but it's also not something he wants to get bogged down in right now. His will save of 13 means though his voice wavers a little bit, he doesn't start sobbing in front of everyone. He's good. When he's done, he lowers the letter, looking around at the rest of the team.]

Not saying she made the right call. But she's trying to help. And the least you can do is give her the benefit of the doubt. She's a part of our team.

[Des hasn't actually said anything this whole time. idk. maybe he's been lurking in a corner, but when spike reads the letter, his expression goes from hardened and utterly unforgiving to something a bit more broken and conflicted.]

[nepotism]

[ fred breaks the awkward silence by letting out a low whistle. ] Well... shit.

so unimpress B| ] ... Oh come on. You're not going to tell me you actually buy any of that?!

[Elena looks...surprisingly conflicted?]

It's true, it could all be a lie. It's not like she's not good at coming up with them, and it would be a good way to keep us from coming after her if we think it'll get her caught by Keijen and Company.

[A beat.]

That said, if anyone was going to legitimately pull anything like that off? It'd probably be her. Decisions like that aren't exactly...the easiest to make.

[She would know. Just saying.

Also did she just give Dumage a compliment?]

Do we really have any choice other than to see if she comes through or not?

[slay]

Not to be devil's advocate here or anything, but does it matter?

[ Buffy glances around the room. ]

It's not like we woulda shot her on sight coming back to the castle either way. Either she gets the information she wants, and brings it back, and we all try to figure out what she's got and if we can trust her then, or she's the bad guy and she never comes back, orrrr she's the good guy and she's right: Keijen's learned the truth, and she doesn't come back.

If we go after her, we blow her cover either way. Nothing in that letter is something we can actually act on until she comes back. Elena's right: if she's really on our side, she doesn't need back-up. Meanwhile, we've got a country to rebuild, a king to elect, and god only knows what else comes our way that we do need to deal with right now.

[bigbad]

[Spike looks over at Buffy, desperate gratitude in his expression. He knows it means more to him than to Dumage that people believe her. Honestly, it would only help her cover for the knights to scream traitor at her. But he doesn't want them all to think so poorly of her. He doesn't want them to write her off immediately when he knows if it had been anyone else, there'd be doubt. With Elena, they'd all assumed she'd been mind controlled or something, or that there was more to the story because sweet, kind Elena would never do anything like that.

He believes the letter. He knows it isn't fair to blame Mark for not believing it, for thinking the worst of her, but he does anyway. Still, his eyes are at least clear enough to know that if he sees Dumage again, he can't trust her. She's playing too many sides for him to know without more information that she's currently on their team.

But at least with the letter, he has hope. That she will come back, and when she does, she'll be on their side after all.]

I don't see why she'd bother writing a letter just to lie to me. But Buffy's right. It doesn't matter. [He sags a little, letting his arm with the letter in it slip to his side. He looks up at Wynn.] Just thought you should know before you wrote her off. [She might not care what they all thought of her, but he cared. Probably more than he should.]

[Archer is just sipping at his flask, arms-folded, looking extremely sour. He can't help but inject some commentary;]

The inter-departmental communication in this organization is frankly appalling, for the record.

[He's actually just tired of not being in the loop on all the espionage.]

Sir Summers, I believe, has a point.

Whatever damage has been done can no longer be reversed. I certainly hope, as I am sure we all do, that Sir Moulet tells the truth in her letter, but we cannot be certain until we see her again. Ideally, she will return with something that proves her true to her word.

In the meantime, I do not think it is wise to attempt to look for her.
