The impressively large Great Hall of the castle could easily pass as a royal throne room, with its length and the red carpet leading up to a set of steps. However, there is no throne set at the top of them, and the Hall is wide enough to accommodate hundreds of Knights. And indeed, several hundred Knights stand in ranks on either side of the wide stretch of red, each wearing the traditional set of ceremonial armor in their possession.   

While plenty of Knights try to get out of attendance once and awhile, Wynn personally ordered his Knights on Andres to cease their activities and flew them back for this ceremony, a step towards rebuilding in the wake of more tragedy.

The newest squires have been fitted to his armor after meeting with Wynn as always. It's traditional for them to appear for the first time before the Knighthood wearing it and they are assured that only a very small number of the Knights make use of their armor for other circumstances. It does, however, create an intimidating sense of unity as they stand shoulder to shoulder in rank and file to receive their newest pledges.

They enter together, with a flair of orchestral music that fills the hall with as much pomp as possible. It's a lot like that last scene in A New Hope. Yeah, you thought I was going to get through an entire post being all serious, didn't you.

At the top of the steps, Wynn waits, wearing a sword on his belt that canny eyes† might recognize as familiar.  Mark has, after all, brought it back with him from Andres - the famed sword, Excalibur.

It's one hell of a long walk past all those staring, curious eyes. Luckily, it's a long musical number.

For additional dice rolling fun (optional):

† Roll or randomize a d20. Those who roll a 15 or above can spot the sword for being the exact same sword that was suspended in the statue above the Round Table, when they met with Wynn in the Prologue.
† Roll a d20 dexterity check. If your character rolls a 2 or 3, at some point during their walk they're bound to stumble. A critical fail will lead to an epic faceplant ... or worse.

[She gives a small, slightly forced smile in return before turning back to the ceremony.]

I'm surprised he agreed to put the armor on.

[She says quietly.]

That was probably the easiest part.

[Something tells him the armor was the sweetest part of the conversation that led to this.]

Someone could have warned me.

[That's twice he's been side-blinded by his brother. Not cool.]

I'm not sure how many people would have known ahead of time. But I'm sure you can take it up with him soon. We'll all be seeing much more of him from now on.

You're right about that, though. I guess I made the right choice, sticking around. Maybe this place will be...good for him. Like it was for me.

[She gives him a sympathetic look before nodding.]

Wynn obviously sees something in him. We can only hope that he's truly committed to this and plans to listen to his mentor during his time as a squire.

[Sam looks away, back towards his armor-sporting brother.]

I wonder who his mentor is...

[They've got their work cut out for them, tbh.]

...This is the part where we assume Wynn knows what he's doing, isn't it.

[Helen lets out a quiet, humorless laugh.]

Now you're getting the hang of it.

[And with a Listen Check of 34, it's pretty safe to assume that Rose heard... well at least enough of that conversation.

Her gaze slides from Sam to Helen, lingering on the latter with something akin to either hurt or disappointment in her eyes before she forces herself to move. (Will Save 12).]

Excuse me. [Moving past them to stand where Dean will be able to see her.]

[As Rose moves past, Helen looks a bit guilty. She didn't say anything beyond that whoever would mentor Dean would need a lot of patience, which....is true. But she still knows Rose well enough to know that she should talk with the girl. Later. Not here.

Gaze lingering on the young woman, Helen shakes her head, disappointed in herself more than anything and then turns her focus back to the rest of the ceremony.]

[Sam's eyes narrow just so as Rose moves past. He's got nothing against her, really, considering she did at least hear him out, but there's still bitterness. This feeling that he's been replaced.]

I'll bet she knew.

[Muttered so quietly under his breath that it's possible not even Helen heard it standing beside him.]

[With a whole 4 of a listen check, no Helen didn't hear. She's too busy feeling guilty for not keeping her composure.]
