The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Right. That made sense. Secret being the optimal word here. He's in the middle of nodding like oh yeah, I totally knew that when his eyebrows shoot up once she asks about his drink.]

[Yeah he didn't even know he kind of liquor it was he just grabbed the first bottle he saw and got the fuck out of there. It's not like they would have served him. Drastic measures had to be taken.]

There are lot of bars here. [Are y'all a bunch of drunks? Clearly someone had already shown himself around.]

Yeah, there's a bunch. Some of the Lord of the Rings castoffs only drink ale or mead or whatever dumb shit they have back there. [ she shrugs, unimpressed. w/e. but she motions for his drink. ] Pass it over, if you're going to drink, you should at least know what you're drinking.

[Wait, what is mead? Liam doesn't know. He knows what Lord of the Rings is though because it was made into a bunch of movies recently, but beyond that he has no idea what she's referring to. Like any kid trying to look cool, he rolls with it tho.

And then she offers to get him a rly drink, and he proceeds to light up like a Christmas tree.]

[Usually the older crowd don't want anything to do with the scummy little freshmen. Except for that one time one totally seemed into him but really just lured him to a kidnapping whoops.]

[For he knows not the ways of actual mixed drinks. He's still at that stage of teenage idiocy wherein you and your friends just drink whatever is in your parents' liquor cabinet or worse. Or like bribe people in 7-11 parking lots to buy you beer.]

but she returns a couple minutes later with another glass of pink for herself and a glass of scotch and dr pepper for him. it's like a shot of johnny walker, not much at all, but he's like twelve. with four inch heels on she's nearly as tall as him. he's tiny and adorable and she passes him the glass, simultaneously taking hers back and consolidating it into her new one. ] There were go. Scotch and Dr Pepper.

[He might have sniffed her drink while she was off at the bar (it smelled mostly like pink lemonade/sugar/alcohol probably because that's ... all it is basically), but then he goes back to watching her until she comes back and hands him what looks just like a glass of soda. I don't really see the point of withholding alcohol from you when they'll give you weapons and put you in danger, so. [ she shrugs, like really. they just allowed baby squires (named stiles, he's the only one she was worried about) to what they considered a war. underage drinking can fuck off. especially when it's in the safety of the castle surrounded by mostly adults and wynn's supervision. and if anyone is fussed, well, lila will just change their minds. ]

It's like a defense mechanism to get around the taste of ass that is a bunch of random hard liquors mixed together from your parents' stash.]

What's it like? [He might be a little bit apprehensive about this whole thing, but it was for the best. At least here he could learn not to hurt people--and he'd have people looking out for him in return. That was the selling point they'd used to recruit him, anyway.]

Higher education wasn't really necessary for my dad's particular line of work. My mom probably enjoyed it, used it as an excuse to be pissed at my dad.
