The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[He rubs his head, still eyeing her warily.] Look, my head's kinda fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure you ain't someone I owe money and I know I don't know too many Terrans aside from Quill, so what gives?

...you don't remember. [Despite her sass earlier, Carol sounds almost disappointed. She doesn't know if this is some weird parallel universe thing or just the usual memory loss of the veil, but it doesn't change anything. Rocket doesn't know who she is.] I was part of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Temporary thing. I'm usually an Avenger. But we've fought together a few times now.

We freakin' established the Guardians five minutes before I got yanked onto this d'ast rock.

...I don't know if it's alternate universes or a lot of amnesia going on here, but you've been established for a lot longer where I'm from.

I wasn't in the war. I couldn't get back on time. I was working with NASA.

[She gives him a judgy face.] Of course, Rocket. It's not as advanced as what you're used to [Or even what she's used to] but people want to know what's out there. That's nothing new.

[he just assumed Terrans were too stupid to actually do that shit in real life. it's all fantasy. not that he thinks they're really capable of doing what he needs, but it's a start. He could probably do something with some of what they have...

And then what? [She gives Rocket a look that's laced with sympathy. Despite her general annoyance at his entire existence... he's sort of a friend. Using the definition loosely, at least.] This isn't our universe. I don't think there's even anyone out there.

[he starts to protest that Terrans have always thought "there was nothing out there," but then the actual reality that's probably kept him from looking for a way off this rock sets in. This is a Terra that probably would have gone searching for life on other planets, if there's people spilling in from other worlds. If there was anything out there, they'd probably know.

he drops his hands to his sides and snorts.] Of course this stupid rock's got an empty universe to sit in. Makes about as much sense as anything else around here.

[Carol feels a little bad. It's hard not to when a small, furry animal looks sad.]

Even if there is life out there... it won't be any of the worlds you know. This place is different enough from my Earth that I can guarantee that.

I'd take anything over what I got, but what the hell? I'm here now. Might as well make the freakin' most of it. [He waves his hand, indicating the party, and decides this calls for another drink. Excuse him while he... climbs on top of a chair to grab one.]

[Carol raises her eyebrow, but doesn't stop him.]

Through drinking and partying?

We just won a war. I deserve all the drinkin' and partyin' I can stand. Mostly the former though.

Whatever makes you feel better. [But it sure doesn't seem like a healthy way of dealing with war....]

Oh, it does. Especially after that two-month dry spell.

[Carol winces.] Right, I suppose if anything can drive a small, forest animal to drink....

Hey. I ain't never lived nowhere that wasn't urban in my life. You can keep the arboreal cracks to a minimum. [that's easier to focus on than... torture.]
