The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Hooray, it's someone he knows. Well, "knows." But Cora being on the team that brought him in meant that she's a large part of why he was convinced to trust that this was the right decision in the first place.

Liam still lacked control, and being out there on his own was probably just as dangerous to him as it was to anyone he might have hurt if he ever lost his shit and shifted again. It wasn't unlikely given that he was still so affected by the full moon.]

Cora. Hey.

[He sits up a little straighter, like he needs to impress or something. She was the first female werewolf that he'd met, and she seemed to know what she was doing. He wanted her to think that he was just as capable--probably for the same reasons he felt the need to assert himself with Scott and his friends at times--he was used to being the best, not the runt of the pack.]

[She shakes her head, almost as though giving him a signal to stand down. He didn't have to make a good first impression. She was going to hang out over here regardless.]

They get easier. At least after the first one, not all of the attention is on you.

[That was really the only part he found to be weird. The party part was actually kind of neat. It would have been a lot better if he had like one actual friend, but he'd met some interesting people.]

[He sets his bottle of not soda down so he can hop up and show Cora ... the secret handshake that Stiles taught him, which is probably pretty ridiculous because Stiles rolled a decent dex check when he made it up.

Yeah this is happening. But when he realizes she's not ... doing it back he just kind of stalls out and looks up at her like buh?]

No one showed you the secret handshake? [Oh you sweet summer child. Look he crit failed his sense motive ok he thought this was actually legit.]

[Yeah, she's just going to ... stare at him for a moment as he starts to do it because what are you doing, but it doesn't take her long to figure out that someone played him, you poor thing (sense motive 15).

At least it's her and not Wynn.]

Who told you there was a secret handshake?

[Because she'll probably smack them upside the head for being mean to the newbie. Considering it's Stiles, there will definitely be some Hale glaring.]

And now he feels really dumb. Which was probably the whole point of this little exercise.]

Stiles. [There might be some lingering animosity there but it is well-deserved ok.]

[And cue the eyeroll. Because of course it was Stiles. She is very, very fond of him as he's one of her closest friends in the castle, but even he's not blind to the fact that he can be an ass sometimes.]

[She shakes her head.]

Don't take it personally. You're probably not the first one to fall for it.

[Stiles is going into Dragon's Tongue for a reason, after all.]

[There's something about that sentence that strikes her as a little odd, because Liam hasn't exactly been there all that long for Stiles to pick on (wisdom 19).]

[Stiles is an asshole basically, even here, where you would think the situation sort of trumped that.]

He says he doesn't remember me though. He's probably lying about that too.

[ ... Oh dear. But if Liam knew Stiles and Stiles knew Cora that means that Liam and Cora are from the same place - which is good, because it means she definitely knows how to help him, better than she would any other kind of werewolf.]

I don't think he is. The Veil can make you forget stuff. He knows me from home, but I don't remember him.

[Liam just looks at her like "whut?" If he knew her before he clearly wasn't aware (no shit, but his wisdom check was 7 so it might take him a second to catch up).

Although he does recall Scott telling him that "not everyone is" when Liam asked him how he and his friends are all still alive so ... there's that too.]

[That's the short answer. She pauses for a moment, trying to find a point of reference that might resonate with both of them.]

If you know Stiles, do you know Derek Hale?

[Liam's eyebrows raise with obvious recognition at the mention of Derek's name.

Yeah, I know Derek. He chokeslammed me up against a locker after pissing me off once...]

He helped me stay in control last time there was a full moon.

[He actually has that weird talisman that was made in China Derek let him use, too.]

[She nods a bit at that, before taking the next step with that particular bit of information.]

I'm Derek's sister.

[He looks a little surprised by that. I mean. She-Derek, o-oh... that was probably the last thing he expected tbh.]

Really? [Obviously she hadn't been around for him to meet either. Unless he straight up forgot her.]

I didn't know that Derek had any other family. Except for that weird Peter guy. [Did you die, Cora??]

[It's a little weird considering she was heading back to Beacon Hills and according to Allison and Stiles she got out of the vault and stuck around for a while, but after that everything else is pretty much a blank. Maybe someday someone will show up and clear that up for her. Until then ... ]

We got separated for a while. I'm not really sure what happened after I got back to Beacon Hills.

[Weird Peter guy. Yeah, she's really going to have to talk to Stiles about that.]

I'm missing like ... six years, I think? Then I was in a vault, and then I was here. But I'm not as bad as Derek - he doesn't remember anything at all.

[She shrugs. It's not like she's seen him much and she doesn't really know how to deal with him anyway. They've missed too much of each other and he's missing everything. She's just relieved to know that he's alive.]

The Veil effects everyone differently. It is what it is. I'm just glad he's here.

[Wow at least she seemed to be handling it all right. But it was good to know that Derek would have no idea who he is, so that Liam doesn't approach him later the way that he did with Stiles.

But not she has him wondering--]

Do you know Scott McCall? [Because if Stiles and Derek were here, there was a good chance Scott or someone else might be too right?]

[She shakes her head because she doesn't. Then there's a beat.]

Allison knows a Scott, though. She says he went with Derek to try and get me out of the vault.

[Which is very limited context, but that's really all she has herself.]

[Yeah he's wondering about this vault situation, because she's mentioned it like twice now. Did you rob banks or something, Cora?]

Who's Allison? [Either she wasn't around or he forgot about her too.]

[She shrugs. She doesn't really know her but She knew Derek and Peter and Stiles. She's the reason that she knows Peter's alive.

And it wasn't exactly joyful news. But she seems okay.]
