The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I've never really been great at that either. [he does, however, take a step back. baby steps??] I'm just shocked a guy like you would join up with the Knights. What did Wynn offer you that you can't get doin' your own thing with no one contestin' your personal beliefs like I'm so charmingly doing? [he gestures with his fork.]

I don't give a crap what you - or anybody else around here - thinks. All I care about is that I can keep doin' what I do best. Poppin' the things that go bump in the night, and maybe saving somebody along the way.

[shoveling food in his mouth again in that sort of way when you're annoyed that someone isn't half as much of a dick as you expected them to be.] And it's Descant. Desmond D. Descant. I've been around the block a few times and your type's never heralded anything good.

That's because it's our job to show up where everything's going to shit, and stop it. When a hunter's in town, it's usually not for the Harvest Festival.

Coulda fooled me with all the bonfires. [He stabs another meatball.] There used to be guys who'd torch whole families because Daddy Bugbear might have gotten drunk one night and broke a guy's jaw. Guys who'd slaughter a whole nest so a mama will rampage and they can get paid to put her down.

[Des has been around a long time. And he's too bitter to ever see the good. People like him can't remember the good. They only remember the suffering.] Maybe that's not how you operate, Winchester, but it's how a lot of your kind do. It gets under your skin. So excuse the hell outta me for assuming, but Elena means a lot to me. I didn't know what Wynn was sending after her.

Technically, that's just profiling. [god des you were doing so well.] I explained why I had a kneejerk reaction. I accepted you're probably not a piece of shit. What d'you want from me? A written apology in blood?

Deadly. Go to a wedding, the next day the groom is dead, three people are kidnapped, and New York is in chaos. [He squints.] All right, so maybe it doesn't count if it's the day after, but the whole doppelganger mess did start right here in this ballroom.

[He takes a pointed sip of his wine.] You're never gonna be bored.

[Des looks at him over the edge of his wineglass for a second, studying his expression.] What a dramatic life you must lead.

[des chuckles into his wine glass.] I'm sure I can imagine. No one would ever accuse me of having normal life.

Clowns they might be, but from where I'm standin', this is... almost normal. Or maybe I've gotten so far off the track that I can't always find footing with the other misfits.

[he shakes his head.] They don't see enough, and they're probably better off for it.
