The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Tell me if you say that when the checks start rolling in. [Not that Bambi does anything special with hers except... invest. And buy rare books.] Is this about that brother of yours getting squired in?

[(wis 16) Bambi zeroes in on sibling issues, apparently.]

It's just money, Bambi. Really. There are more important things.

[He could easily just forge a credit card application and get money if he needed it. He's not even kind of bluffing.]

Uh, yeah. It's sort of complicated.

[she snorts.] Complicated. [sounds about right.] I just know if Constance Dalton sprang from the Veil one day with no idea of what was gonna happen to her and joined this place, I'd probably be looking the same as him right now. [she gestures to Dean]

[That manages to make him crack a smile.]

Yeah, that's fair. I just...wish I knew why he decided to do it. This place isn't exactly his style. There has to be other reasons, and if I'm one of them, I want it to be for the right ones.

And not because he's stalking you? [she sips her champagne.] Or for the v. I mean look at him. [she gestures to Dean.] He totally looks like the kind of guy who'd cruise a place like this for badass warrior babes.

And not because he's afraid I'm going to go darkside on him at any moment.

Normally I would think that, yeah, but he's actually got a girlfriend. She's the one that got him hired here in the first place.

Maybe he joined up so they can do couples missions together. [she sticks her tongue out.] Gross.

[wait...] Darkside? You? I mean come on, Sammy. Even Anakin Skywalker was a little shit. You're so... mellow.

He'd probably be a hell of a lot happier if she just stayed here and never left.

[Protecting people is hard in their line of work. At least Rose can seemingly take care of herself, though.]

Well, darkside enough that he took one look at me and nearly ended it right there. He's...giving me a chance, though. [His lips press together.] Our lives are pretty dark. It's not totally out of the realm of possibility, I guess, though whatever it is? I'm sure I either didn't do it willingly or I had a reason.

[eyeroll.] One of those.

[but that's all she says on the matter. she crosses her arms over her chest and cants her head.] But does he believe that? Because that's... super un-familial of him. As bad as shit gets, family's not really supposed to assume the worst of you.

[Her gut twists and her expression looks like she's trying hard to believe those words, herself.]

He has a point. She wouldn't be the first person to get hurt because of us.

I don't think he's totally sure I'm not the brother who hurt him, yet. It's...kind of a mess. The face he's still here at all, though?

{He kind of shrugs his shoulders, but it means hope to him, no matter how small.]

[she raises an eyebrow.] Wait. Hold it. There's, like... no way to prove it? No mystical test to prove you're from the other side of the Veil?

Not that I've found. I offered to let a telepath rummage through my brain, but that apparently wasn't enough for him, either.

Jesus. Where's the trust anymore?

Not to many people come through the Veil that happen to look exactly like your super evil brother. I can understand why he's a little skeptical.

[Look who's standing up for Dean. Again.

Only Sam's allowed to be pissed at him, I guess.]

Easy. [she holds up a hand.] Like I said, if I were him, I'd be skeptical too, but... Gift horses, I guess. [And Constance wasn't evil. It would be her own guilt that made her scared if she were in Dean's position.] And I'd be doing everything to prove it wasn't too good to be true. He seems like a smart guy.

Yeah, well, we haven't reached that stage yet.

[Sam's glad she at least understands where his brother's coming from. A lot of people haven't even looked past the whole hunter for hire thing yet.]

You'll get there eventually. Sure, it'll probably be on a mission where you're trapped in a horrible place about to be killed or something, but it's something to strive for.

Sounds familiar enough. Maybe Wynn will shove us on a mission together someday.

Knowing Wynn? That's definitely in the cards once your brother's proven he can take it. He's a very "trial by fire" kinda guy.

[or that's her opinion, anyway. bambi's thoughts may not always reflect reality.]

If there's anything that can get him to shut off all the critical thinking for half a second and go with his gut, it's being in the middle of a hunt.
