The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I was. And it's the same business I've been on since this started. It's one big convoluted clusterfuck.

Something is telling me to get used to it. Not that I can remember any specific details of me own. [ bluff 18, Stefan, he and Elena were plenty complicated. And why Elena was kidnapped was probably complicated. ] Not about you. Me. And my wacky adventures pre-veil.

[des has no reason to call that bluff, though he does snort.] The way I've seen it a lot of people are better off not knowing what happened before they came here.

You know what, believe it or not, I'm coming around to that. How long are you sticking around this time?

[He snorts.] I don't "stick around." I wait until Wynn sends the team I'm attached to out again or I wait in my hotel and hunt leads on my own. I'm a consultant, not a stray dog. [he rolls his eyes and takes a long swig of his wine.] Contrary to what people think.

Wasn't calling you a stray anything, but, nerve noted. [ Seriously. ] You're free, free as the wind blows. I get it. [ He was. Still probably is. ]

Damn straight. [He notices some people grouping near Elena and he immediately looks up, craning his neck to see if anything is happening, but they're just talking and not paying attention to the other girl, so he relaxes and goes back to his drink.]

So. You and Elena, you're ... close?

Could say that. [He zeroes in on Damon, now that the subject has veered away from him.] She's part of that team I was talking about. The last several months have been hard on her- I wanna make sure no one's giving her shit.

.. Good. Look, skipping town probably hasn't done me any favors. I'm not going to be on that "team" any time soon [ And he doesn't want to be ] but, do me a favor? [ And in a rare, RARE serious moment ] Look after her?

There is no person in the world uniquely equipped to look after that kid than me.

[He says it with the utmost confidence.] That's a promise I can keep. [he's still eyeing him though.] She doesn't remember you, does she?

[ With a will save of 9, his smile cracks, a hint of emotion peeking through. ] She doesn't. [ And immediately following ] But, shockingly, I don't think it's the worst thing. [ 100% honesty. It helps that she doesn't remember Stefan and Stefan, likewise her. It uncomplicates a lot and while his feelings will always be there - circumstances have shifted drastically. Damon's just now catching up ]

Like I said- I don't think losing memories is as bad as people think it is. I forget almost as much as I remember, and almost all I do remember is the bad. A lot of people are probably better off makin' a clean break from all that shit.

Yep. [ Come to think of it, that's why he'd compelled Elena's memory away. No good would come of it. ]

Guess not. [He sighs and gives Damon a pat on the shoulder.] She'll be fine. Girl's stronger than she looks.
