The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I got a feelin' I'm gonna be doin' this a lot when I ain't got nothin' better to do. [He unscrews the cap on the brandy and takes a swig directly from the bottle.] Don't get me wrong- anything's better than where I was last, but I dunno if I'm gonna get used t'... this.

[whatever this is. small close-knit team? it took him awhile to get used to that idea. This is... something else.]

[ He's busy with a bottle himself, whisky that was at the back of a shelf, probably supposed to be out of the way of people. As if. They can have incidents together, given Matt has been known to cause one or two. ]

They seem like a decent bunch of people. And they're not all wankers, which is a start. [ Damning praise, there, Matthew. ]

So where was it you were before you came here?

[ Really, where does a talking Racoon type come from? He has no idea. ]

In general or this side o' the Veil. [Because it's a very different answer depending on which one he means. Space vs France... and eventually Andres's torture prison.]

On The Milano out in the far reaches o' the galaxy, lookin' for somethin' a little bit good and a little bit bad to do now that I'm a big-time hero. [he takes another swig of his brandy briefly before pulling down a glass and setting it on the floor so he can start mixing the liquor he's found.] This wasn't what I had in mind.

Oh you're a hero? And what sort of heroic things do you do?

[ He watches him mix the drinks, and lifts his brow a bit. ]

Mate I'm not sure that's such a good idea.

[Well, he was for about five minutes. He supposes busting in that prison door and saving all the Shadowkind counts as heroic, but it really just felt like a personal vendetta.

He waves off his warning. HE CAN HANDLE IT.] Saved the galaxy once.

Fuck off you did? Really? The galaxy? And how did you pull that shit off?

[ He'd eye the level of drink a bit more, but really the galaxy takes precedence. ]

Well, it was kinda accidental at the time. I met this dude named Quill who was tryin' to sell this stupid rock to some guy for eight billion units and that ain't chump change. Then, come to find out his rock was actually a world-destroying stone that this genocidal maniac named Ronan was really gung-ho for so he can wipe out an entire planet with it.. and then probably every other planet he didn't like. So we sorta... Fell into stoppin' that dude and savin' Xandar. Felt right, though, so we decided to make a career outta it.

[He waves his horrible concoction around, sloshing a bit on the floor.] The Guardians of the Galaxy.

[ Well that's some serious shit right there. But then there's that name, and the fact that Matt's drunk maybe a few more glasses than he ever should have. ]

The Guardians of the Galaxy? Oh come on. Do you have tshirts with that on?

Hey, I didn't pick the freakin' name, okay. [and now he's gonna drink that swill. let's see what happens... Fort Save 24 says he's good. Damn.]

[ Matt just... watches him drink that and he kind of wants to applaud the guy. ]

You're going to feel like shit in the morning, mate. [ He's still drinking himself though, and he knows he's going to have a hell of a bad head himself. ]

[he snickers and knocks back another swig.] A lot of idiots though.

Yeah you know given what we're drinking, we're probably two of them.

[ Or at least they'll feel it in the morning. ]

[ He tries to understand that, but nope, not happening. He'll deal. ]

[ Matt listens, but has... no idea whatsoever what any of that is. Doesn't make him want it any less though. Especially that... hyperwhateveritis. ]

Yeah you know you ever get hold of that stuff then I'm first in line for one of those.

[ Still, the latter comment is an interesting one, and he gestures a bottle vaguely towards him. ]

Oh yeah you know the veil it does all sorts of weird shit like that. Some people don't even know their name.

[Rocket is so game for feeding unsuspecting Terrans Timothys. It's like INSTANT BLACKOUT: THE DRINK.]
