The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ There's someone else he hasn't specifically mentioned because he's just...not sure if it's the best idea. But it's his grandfather, and he believes there's good in him, too. ]

There's someone...I'm not sure if you've met him or heard of him yet, but his name is Auric Gold. I think he could help you.

He claimed to recognize me, but had rather foolish ideas about what that meant.

Wow, that's...weird. Why would he call you Mayor? Did he explain that at all, or just dropped that bomb and left it?

He wrote it off as some trick of the Veil.

[ He wonders if he should say anything now about Gold being his grandfather, thinks of all the ways she could eventually find out from others, or on her own, and then that could shatter her perception of him, because he kept this all from her. ]

So you probably don't want to talk to him again, I'm guessing.

[ Which...could be a really good thing for the time being. ]

I don't know yet. [ there's a certain petulance to the reply, and it's clear that however irritated she might have been by whatever she said, she also doesn't like being in the dark and probably won't let it lie forever ]

[ He'll have to talk to his grandfather before they'd ever do this, so they're on the same page, but - ]

Maybe at some point, if you do want to talk to him again, I could introduce you? I know him pretty well.

[ He would tell her the truth about Gold being his grandfather, except then he would fully expect her to ask him what he knows about her being Mayor. That's a conversation for another time. ]

I suppose it wouldn't hurt. Maybe some of your good manners will rub off on him.

Start you off on the right foot this time, and maybe have him explain what happened before. And you guys can talk about magic. Me, too, maybe.

Tonight's been really good, meeting you. Maybe we'll get to go on missions together at some point. [ Which could really go either way on being good or bad. ]

Exactly what are these missions like, anyway?

I've actually only been on one mission so far, so I can't speak with too much experience yet. Did anyone tell you about the war? I was with a mission to recover some weapons. It was pretty intense...we were invisible at one point, got attacked a few times, I was paralyzed for a few seconds. But we made it back safe.

Andres, yes. It's all people seem to be talking about.

I have a feeling you'll be a natural at any mission you're sent on. [ It's not even flattery, though it probably sounds like it. He just knows straight up what she's capable of, and that sort of...lessens his fear, even if she's not really sure about her magic yet. Although Emma's almost died twice, so there's that worry in the back of his mind nonetheless. ]

That's refreshing to hear. [ she tilts her head at him for a moment, sounding honestly surprised, rather than just flattered. while she clearly believes she will be too, it seems like not everyone's been so openly confident about her abilities. ]

Just a feeling. But I usually have good instincts about people. [ Well, ok, it's more than that. But. She can't know that yet. ]
