after-party ♔ october

Jeux d'eau - Ravel

WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || October 1st, 2014, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam

The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Sir Maxwell Briggard. Nice to make your acquaintance. [He smiles, accepting their exchange of introduction.] What brings you here, sister? [Yeah, she is his sister now and till ever.]
grimrot: (don't talk to me I'm reading)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-02-06 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I'd prefer you to refer to me by name, and not as "sister." It's unprofessional. [She's all for solidarity with others of her kind, especially the heroic sort. But they can still employ manners!] I'm working with the Dragon's Hoard. They've been quite accommodating as I completed my thesis.
beatemup: (Okaayyy....)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-02-10 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[He frowns a bit at that. Sir isn't a fun thing to say.] Hoard? Really? [Now he sees where she got that attitude from. He doesn't like the Hoard, but for the half-orc, he will make an exception.] That's awesome! Good for you making a name for our kind. It's time to show them that those stereotypes are unreasonable. [On the other side, this guy makes those more believable.]
grimrot: (knowledge local)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-02-11 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! [She beams, pushing her glasses up her nose.] It wasn't always easy, especially back in the old world... humans and orcs alike didn't always... understand me. But here with the knights, most people have been kind. It's.... refreshing.
beatemup: (We need to talk.)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-02-15 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh! [He nods in agreement.] Yeah, people around here are better than outside. But you're settled in the Hoard's lab, right? You might want to keep your guards up. Not all of them are nice. In fact, most of them aren't that decent to less scholarly races. When I arrived, that place was the least welcoming of all.
grimrot: (awkward turtle)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-02-22 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Really? [She frowns, brow creasing.] They've all been perfectly kind to me.

You're lucky then. The first time I went there to visit, they treated me like a monkey that was gonna hurt everyone there by playing with the dangerous tools lying around. [Technically true... except he was playing with the gadgets, so it's not entirely the Hoard's fault to warn him.]

I had military training. I was responsible to handle explosives and firearms several times. [Technically, also true.] I knew how to handle sensitive gadget, but they point a sharp wooden stake to my chess [Also true, not in this context though.] and warned me not to blow up the entire castle. Imagine if that happened to you when you're still fresh from the recruitment hall.
grimrot: (smart hero bonus)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-02-27 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her sense motive of 22 has her thinking that just maybe there might be more to the story.]

Er, were you playing with the dangerous tools lying around when they said these things?
beatemup: (what?)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-03-01 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[He was, but he won't admit it, of course.]

If they were dangerous, they wouldn't be lying around, would they? Besides, I wasn't playing with them, I was just looking at them... And touched them just a bit...

[He avoids eye contact, scratching his neck, clearly showing signs of lie. Worst liar ever. (bluff nat 1, modifier = -1, so 0)]
grimrot: (don't talk to me I'm reading)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-03-05 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Welp, she didn't crit fail, so she doesn't buy that.] My sect mates are just... cautious. You understand, right? Some of the devices they've created are not to be trifled with.
beatemup: (*death glare*)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-03-09 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[He really can't deny that. But it's not him if he backs off so easily.] I do! But they didn't need to be exceptionally hostile. If that was the only thing they did, I wouldn't hold any grudge. [He still hasn't forget what happens at the seminar and the weapon orientation.] Well, if they have been treating you well, that's great. Maybe luck wasn't at my side back then and I met the worst of them. As a fellow half-orc, I just hope your personality won't degrade as you spent time there. [Somehow, he manages to make all of this more diplomatic. Maybe that will make her take his side. (diplomacy 17)] Good evening, I'm sure you have more important things to attend than talking to a muscle-headed half-orc. [Definitely guilt-tripping. And he strides away, without waiting her response. Though he does take a peek to see if the strategy worked.]
grimrot: (how could you)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-03-09 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[She catches his arm before he gets the chance, and fixes him with a look. She's clearly angry, yes, and just as clearly hurt.]

How dare you?
beatemup: (what?)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-03-10 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's a reaction he doesn't expect. He really doesn't know how to react to that. So, he just turns around and waits for her to say what she wants to say with a half-guilty look.]
grimrot: (can I be somewhere else)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-03-10 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I have worked hard my entire life to prove that what they say about our kind isn't true. To prove that I can hold my own amidst the greatest minds in this world and the Shadow World. And I've found the Hoard to be very accepting... much more accepting, in fact, than many places I've been! Those are my friends you're insulting, and yet you have the gall to take it personally when I defend them?

[She drops his arm crossing her own.]

Simply put: If you wish not to be treated as a muscle-head, do not act like one. Or at the very least, do not behave like a child when people do not immediately take your side.
beatemup: (I'm gonna kill you!)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-03-14 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He feels really bad for angering her, but his feeling toward the Hoard isn't entirely unjustified.] Of course, it is personal! When I talked to them, I was really interested at the lab. I thought maybe I could see awesome gadgets and techs, things that you can only see in games. But you know what! When I asked them to show me what they had created, they were like. Hush! Go away! Sush! [He pauses. His clutches his fists trying to tone down his anger and lower the tone of his voice.]

I have seen they treated people who can talk in equation better than unschooled bruiser like me. Just because I don't have expansive choice of words and calm serene attitude doesn't mean I don't want to understand what they do. If the Hoard only wants people who have PhD in their lab, put a sign on the door. And FYI, I too, know Hoards who are nice and accepting. [He kinda like Aurelius and Gar. And even though technically Lydia isn't a Hoard or nice and accepting. He met her in the lab and he also like her.]

As I said, I was probably having a streak of bad luck so I met the ones who were less nice and accepting. I just hope you don't get mixed up with them.
grimrot: (can we not)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-03-15 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That isn't the part that bothers me. You don't have to like my friends, and yes, it's true, they tend to judge a person by their cognitive abilities. It isn't that I can't understand why you may not have gotten along. I do not appreciate you insinuating that my attitude had to do with your race when I am the very same. [And indeed, she looks extremely orcish. More than most half-orcs, even.]

It was extremely out of line.

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-03-16 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Max's only almost half-orc. More like quarter-orc. But he doesn't think himself less than a full orc. He doesn't really think that he has gone that far. But he at least have a bit of conscience knowing he isn't the subtlest speaker out there. He thinks he might have crossed a line or two, so apology is on the list, not concise enough to spell it out loud though.]

I might have gone a bit too far, but I haven't crossed any line. It's the truth. If you are offended by my simple opinion, then I'm sorry I hurt your feelings but you need to learn to take a snark once in a while. [That's the best apology he can say at this situation.]
grimrot: (don't talk to me I'm reading)

[personal profile] grimrot 2015-03-19 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[That isn't an apology at all, and she clearly isn't impressed. If anything, she looks more offended now.] You did cross a line, and I was offended. And you do not know me nearly well enough to determine when I need to learn to take a snark.

[With that she turns to leave. This conversation is not going well, and she doesn't really want to deal with this much confrontation.]
beatemup: (Fuck you!)

[personal profile] beatemup 2015-03-22 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
[And that just proves his points. Nevertheless, he lets her leave. He can't and won't deal with her impertinent more than this.]
