Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

I guess she was concerned with how presentable I'd be.

Well, you clean up nice. [ for the record. ] And your sectmates seem... [ weird. ] Nice.

If you can call them that. I mean, a lack of sect isn't ... really a sect, is it?

[lurings]

It is, kind of, I think. There's other people who didn't fit into one sect enough to choose it. That's a little bit like belonging to something bigger.

[mydesigns]

That's a nice way of looking at it.

I practiced that.

You practiced spinning?

[lurings]

I was trying to convince myself to let Belle promote me like everyone else. You'll notice I failed.

[mydesigns]

Why didn't you accept the promotion? You didn't think you deserved it?

Not really. [ she fidgets uncomfortably. ]

Because you broke down? Or something else?

[he struggles with deciding what to say, but finally settles for] Most squires aren't promoted until after two missions, usually.

[lurings]

[ she thinks it's probably meant to reassure her and it does in a way. if it had been a normal mission she doesn't think many people would have been promoted. so she gives will a weak, thankful smile and bobs her head in a nod. ]

Belle said she would wait until I was ready.

[mydesigns]

[he tries to smile back. it's hard work because he's not good at emotions, ok.] And when you are, it'll be great.
