Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

Nah, it was boring as fuck. Except for when people tried to kill us, then it was a pain in the arse.

Didn't seem so rough until you brought all that up. I still blame the storm, that was the root of everything.

[His brow furrows in confusion.]

Storm?

Oh, yeah, back home there was the huge storm that gave me and my mates powers. Other people, too, like our probation officer. It turned him into a total nutjob, it was insane. He tried to murder us! We took care of it, though.

[His eyebrows go up a bit at that because ... wow.]

Yeah, real lucky until everyone uses me as a human shield. But I guess brilliance has a price, yeah? Great powers come with great responsibility.

Is there a limit? To how many times you can die before it sticks, I mean.

Dunno, I'm upwards of 50 and survived at least one nuclear explosion, so I'd say the outlook is pretty good or little ol' Nathan Young.
