Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

"Please kneel."

[And David will not be shy about laughing at him, either. No Viking would be. This is what you get for drinking with one, Stiles. He knocks back his own shot with a small wince, before gesturing for a refill since they said they were getting him drunk.]

Believe it or not, this actually tastes better than the stuff I'm used to.

Back home, they didn't have the fancy stills like they have here. It had no flavor at all. One of the many good things about the Old World, aside from indoor plumbing and electricity is that they have much better alcohol.

Yeah, I'm not really sure I get the place you came from. I mean you don't seem all that freaked out by modern stuff. But... Viking? How's that work?

Well, I grew up in Chicago until I was about sixteen. That ... covered most of the modern stuff. I still am getting used the internet and texting and stuff like that, but I grew up in most of this.

[He pauses before knocking back the next shot and continuing.]

Then my girlfriend at the time was kidnapped by Fenrir the wolf god into an alternate universe and accidentally sucked me and my friends in after her and ... Vikings. I was stuck there for twelve years.

[Stares for a long ass time.]

So... [Dramatic pause as he leans forward, a question forming but not quite being spoken. Finally he comes out with it, his palm turning towards the sky, eyebrows lifting, smile spreading across his face.]

Cubs or White Sox?

[David laughs, an honest laugh, before responding with all seriousness.]

White Sox, obviously. I'm a glutton for punishment.

[Stiles just grins. He likes when people go along with his dumb jokes.]

We should fly out and catch a game sometime.

[He thinks about it for a moment, before nodding in response.]

Yeah, we should. That'd be fun.

Cool. Maybe you can tell me more about that crazy story of yours while we eat our weight in hot dogs.

[He nods in agreement.]

Sounds like a plan. I'll check and see when games start up in April.

[David nods, like he's going to do the same when he's probably just going to wallflower it up some more, as he do.]
