Perched at the edge of any civilized lands, the small lumber town of Falcon's Hollow has always had to rely on itself to solve its  problems.  Now the hacking coughs of the sick are heard throughout the town.  The plague has come to the Hollow, and the town is ill equipped to stop it on its own, particularly given its resistance to magic.

That's where the Knights come in, sent to assist a local herbalist in putting together enough supplies to mass produce a cure.

[ the path towards the woods of darkmoon vale ends at a lumber camp, which cuts an ugly scar of stumps into a dense strand of proud darkwood trees. five sturdy-looking log buildings - seemingly a bunkhouse, mess hall, office, barn, and smithy - numerous wide carts and sleds amid the sawdust covered clearing. callous, unrelenting workers pass by, not paying them any mind. ]

They might be able to draw us a map to where we can find some of those places Laurel mentioned. Worth askin'.

Got it. [ abigail doesn't want to talk to people or ask for directions, but she also wants to get this over and done with in as expedient a manner humanly (or inhumanly considering her company) possible.

so she marches toward what she thinks looks like the office. (wis crit fail, it's probably not the office.) ]

Ah... [Grimrot catches her shoulder.] I believe those are the outhouses, actually. Those look a bit more likely. [She points towards a collection of... more likely buildings (navigate 16).]

[ they come across a little shack with the name "Foreman" written on the outside, and logan pushes the door, revealing a filthy office, thickly decorated with taxidermies of fierce forest animals. the greasy looking forearm is bent over some papers at his desk, and he doesn't look up, snapping: "What is it?" ]

Hey, man. We were hoping we could get a hold of a map. We're looking for a couple places that might be kind of out of the way and could use some help.

[ he finally looks up, glances across them all with a scowl, then goes back to his work.

"I don't have time for this shit." ]

[grimrot]

No wait... please! [Grimrot steps forward with a slight smile.] It would only take a moment. We're trying to help with the sickness that's been spreading. [Diplomacy 22.]

[Nels will aid (got a 15, so +2 to Grimrot), by folding his arms and chiming in;]

[ the guy stops, and looks up at them with an irritated but convinced grimace.

"Fine. The hell did you need again?" ]

[ he stands up, waving a hand. "I know who you can ask. I'll go fetch him. Rhoddam's nephew's got the scour, so he'll wanna hear this anyway." with that, he heads out the door. ]

Meanwhile, Miles is just hoping they don't catch this disease since apparently the guy that's being fetched has it. Priorities.]

[ GLARES AT NELS as the door opens and milon rhoddam walks in, all flannel and beard, observing them with quiet, thoughtful eyes for a moment.

"Heard you folks were hear about the blackscour." ]

We are. We're hoping to find the ingredients the herbalist needs to help all of you.

We need to find somebody called Ulizmila, the oldest tree in the forest, and some dwarven ruins. [ he sounds so skeptical but the guy moves to grab a piece of paper and sketch out a rough map, marking all three places.

"I give you this, you better promise you're gonna bring all this back pronot." ]

[grimrot]

Of course! We want nothing more than to help the good people of your town. We'll be as fast as we can.

[ "Just a little ways into the woods to the north of here, you'll run into a lake. Follow the shores all the way around it counter clockwise and strike north again, and you'll find the forest elder. Biggest tree out there - they say the whole forest grew out of it.

Keep heading west and you'll come across the Hag-Haunted Hollow. That's where the witch's cottage was, last I knew.

The dwarven ruins are further west, at the foot of the crag." ]

[ abigail takes a teeny step forward, peering at the map. ] Is there another way back from there or would following the same route back be the best bet?

[ "Just crossing the river, but you'd need a way to do it, so unless you feel like building a raft..." ]

No, thank you, doubling back is fine with me. [ rivers in winter are no-nos. ] Is there anything else about the woods you can tell us?

[ like idk are there werewolves or giant badgers or huge dire wolverines waiting to rip people's faces off??? ]
