Perched at the edge of any civilized lands, the small lumber town of Falcon's Hollow has always had to rely on itself to solve its  problems.  Now the hacking coughs of the sick are heard throughout the town.  The plague has come to the Hollow, and the town is ill equipped to stop it on its own, particularly given its resistance to magic.

That's where the Knights come in, sent to assist a local herbalist in putting together enough supplies to mass produce a cure.

Flight Threads

[ for any flight interactions, considering it's like a nine hour flight or sth... ]

[ like a loser, abigail spends the flight reading or napping. when she's awake, she's usually leafing through a book on plantlife that she bought. bought and paid for specifically so she can highlight it. :) sometimes she plays on her phone, slowly losing to stiles at trivia crack from across continent the ocean. she's pretty stoked to be heading, basically, home but in typical abigail fashion is just comes off like emotionless boredom. ]

Grimrot

[Predictably, Grimrot has her nose in a book, this time one on Shadow World plants and their uses. Though she has lots of reading stamina, eventually even she falls asleep, glasses still on and perilously crooked, book still perched on her lap.]

[Nels spends his flight quietly working through Sudoku puzzles in impressively rapid succession. He occasionally takes breaks to meditate.]

[ while she still awakes, logan speaks up from across the aisle ] Anything useful in there?

[ the knights take a rented car out to the small village, passing several lumber camps covered in snow. the village itself is situated at the edge of a frozen river, and seems to consist of no more than about forty buildings clustered together. logan pulls over in the center of town, and looks out the window for a few moments before swinging the door open. ] Probably gonna have to ask around for this herbalist.

[ abigail vaults out of the car because enclosed spaces and people is a no when there is fresh air and snow outside. looking around, she adjusts how her backpacks sits on her shoulders. it looks like her back yard. ]

Should we just knock on a door or two? It's a small town, people will probably know who we're looking for right off the bat.

[ abigail looks between the rest of them, eyes settling on miles because he scares her the least, and lifts her eyebrows like I CHOOSE YOU PIKACHU. also let's go. because look at her not waiting for anyone else and setting off to knock on, literally, the first door she comes to. ]

[Oh he's been picked to help with this part? He seems to accept this easily enough as he walks after her. Time to ask door to door hooray!]

[ 19! she tugs off one of her gloves so the knock won't be muffled and absently tucks her hair back into her pony tail, fidgety with some errant nerves. this feels more like a first mission than andres did. ]

So many things! [She gushes, looking up from the book with a huge smile that shows off her fangs a little too much.] Er, unless you meant specifically pertaining to the mission? [Research 13 so idk probably not....]

[Not that he's not a team player... but how two seems like plenty to knock on a door. Nels will hang back by Logan.]

Whenever I see a place like this, it makes me feel like the Drow got at least one thing right, with the whole... underground thing.

[Grimrot isn't scary. :( At least, she tries really hard not to be. That being said, she's... huge and has fangs and blue skin and okay maybe she's a little scary. She's happy to hang back for the sake of not scaring people who's she's certain would like her just fine if they got to know her. It just... might take more than the few seconds that they'll probably spend at the door.

She's also bundled up. Though her ancestors were from cold places, she was raised in the dessert, and this much snow is fascinating, but not exactly something she enjoys.]

I can't imagine never seeing the sun.

[ logan pulls out a cigar, since he assumes this is gonna take awhile, and what better way to stay warm, really. ] Give me wide open spaces any day. [ bro this is where he's from.

the door is opened cautiously by a woman who looks to be middle aged, but has golden hair shot through with pink streaks, in a messy mop top. the medieval looking dress she wears makes it clear that she's likely a Shadow World immigrant, and she's heavier set, peering suspiciously at them with striking magenta eyes.

"Can I help you?" ]

[ abigail's eyes widen slightly at the sight, but it's cearly from some sort of delighted teenage fascination. cool hair! in any case, a kind smile slides across her face as she curls her hands around the straps of her backpack. ]

Hi. I'm Abigail. this is Miles, we were just wondering if you would be able to give us some directions? [ diplomacy 23 or gather information 26.

We're looking for someone.

[He's here to assist with his gather info 21/diplomacy 19.]

[ "Out of towners," she says, sounding surprised, but she nods slightly. "It's a small town. Shouldn't be hard to find whatever you're looking for." ]

She runs Roots and Remedies.

[ "Shouldn't be hard to find. There's a line in front of her shop." she frowns a bit. "I wish there was more I could do. But people here barely trust clerics, and my magic hasn't done much for those who do." ]

[ line, got it, she files that away, but it's the rest of it that catches her interest. ] Why don't they trust clerics?

[ "Look around. It's a small backwoods town here, and most of the experiences these people have had with magic comes from what was dumped next to them in Darkmoon Vale. They distrust almost anything from the Shadow World." ]

[ her hand lifts reflexively to touch her ear, disguising the motion as tucking hair back again. abigail is wary of magic, but she is pretty much solace's number one fan. she's also a pragmatic survivalist and isn't going to say no to something that will keep her alive, even if it's magic. ]

Do they not know the herbs she's using are also from the Shadow World?
