[Earlier in the week all DRAKENET devices received a message announcing Francesca's birthday party, courtesy of Sir Bancroft, to be held the evening of July 11. No RSVP needed. It's especially good timing now that many mission groups have returned to the castle, at least for the time being.

As the guests make their way in, it's clear the party's been well stocked with food and drink. There's plenty of room for mingling and some music in the background. Gifts are completely optional, but welcome. Come in and get comfortable.]

[ unlike dumage, tia's not really dressed up at all, just looking normal in a nice top and pants as she slides into the room, a tiny package under her arm, which she goes to add to the gift table. ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri didn't know Francesca well enough to buy a gift, but now she's wondering if she's been rude by not bringing one. As she looks on all the packages that have been added to the table, she feels so guilty. It's because of this that she doesn't realize that she's blocking the table from anyone else adding their gifts too. She turns and notices a woman with a gift in hand.]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... [She says while moving aside.]

[telekinection]

It's perfectly alright. [ she gracefully reaches around myri to set it down, looking at her out of the corner of her eye for a moment before adding, as if to explain the gift and allay Myri's unvoiced guilt: ] Francesca's a friend of mine.

[witchwoman]

[Myri just nods while the gift is safely placed on the table.] It seems she knows nearly everyone at the castle. [It's said with a touch of awe, since the notion of making friends and keeping them is still fairly new to the girl.]

[telekinection]

She does have a hundred year head start, don't forget. Plus, it's in her nature. Some people have the whole personable thing down naturally.

[witchwoman]

[Being reminded that some people are better at being personable reminds Myri that she hasn't... introduced herself. So she just blurts it out.]

I'm Myrilandel. [Well... that's done, at least.]

[telekinection]

Tia Ellison. [ she offers a firm, friendly hand to shake ] I think I saw you when you first arrived here, but it's such a big place... Sometimes you can go months without running back into someone.

[witchwoman]

[Myri shakes the nice lady's hand and smiles.]

Oh. Maybe. Yes, I've been gone for some time on a mission. We only just returned a short time ago.

[telekinection]

With a success on your hands, I hope?

[witchwoman]

Not... exactly. It seems that things are a bit more complicated than we first believed.

[telekinection]

Isn't that always how it goes? [ her tone is wryly amused, as if she really, truly does understand ] Don't let it discourage you. Truth is simply always stranger than fiction.

[witchwoman]

[Myri nods, knowing that there's truth there that she's been trying to tell herself since they left Chicago.]

Does it ever get easier? Disappointing someone?

[She's never had anyone to let down before. This is new.]

[telekinection]

Well, you'll find when it comes to Wynn that he's only ever really disappointed when a person lets themselves down.

[witchwoman]

[She looks down again, trying to smile to laugh at herself.]

Perhaps he should prepare himself for more disappointment, then.

[telekinection]

Have you considered that perhaps you're being too hard on yourself?

[witchwoman]

[She shakes her head.]

Feeling the physical pain of others always felt like the worst hurt imaginable. But seeing a man's heart break was so much worse.

No, I do not think I am being to hard on myself. I should have prevented that pain.

[telekinect]

May I ask what happened?

[witchwoman]

[Even within the confines of the castle, Myri's paranoid tendencies lend to her not giving out details of the mission that she believes would be sensitive.] We hoped to reunite a man with the woman he loved, a woman he thought was long gone. But... it didn't go as planned. She had no recollection of him at all. He was devastated.

[telekinect]

But, like you said, that wasn't what you had planned. Your intention was to try to bring them both joy. How does that make the unforeseen your fault?

[witchwoman]

It is hard not to feel as if we upset his life for no reason- that he would be better to have not met us at all.

[telekinection]

Maybe his story isn't over yet.

[witchwoman]

[She pauses, thinking heavily on that.]

Perhaps.

I hope so.

[telekinection]

A little hope can go a long way.

[witchwoman]

[That pulls a smile from her.]

I'm sorry. I don't mean to put a damper on the party with my worries. After all this time away from the castle, and instead of getting to know someone, I'm pouring my troubles out to them.

[telekinection]

I don't mind, Myri. You'd be surprised how many people keep those troubles locked up inside and never let them out, and the damage it does to them.

[ she reaches over to squeeze her arm ] Never be afraid to say what you're thinking.
