[Earlier in the week all DRAKENET devices received a message announcing Francesca's birthday party, courtesy of Sir Bancroft, to be held the evening of July 11. No RSVP needed. It's especially good timing now that many mission groups have returned to the castle, at least for the time being.

As the guests make their way in, it's clear the party's been well stocked with food and drink. There's plenty of room for mingling and some music in the background. Gifts are completely optional, but welcome. Come in and get comfortable.]

[ so of course, thomas is here rocking it out, playing a hearty up tempo old-western saloon style song on the piano in the corner... rather poorly. but with gusto! ]

[Faye had a pretty great time with Thomas last time they partied together, so it's no wonder that she finds him at some point of the night. She's even mildly impressed with his playing.

And oh yeah- she hasn't forgotten that he's important, so she's leaning on the piano in a fashion meant to draw his attention.

Girl has no shame.]

Do you think it would be considered inappropriate if I danced?

[ Lear isn't quite as blatant or as gratuitous as Faye; for one thing, her dress isn't as low-cut, so leaning over the back of the piano to watch him play doesn't have quite the same effect. For another, she genuinely wants to know. ]

[She couldn't let the night end without making her appreciation known. She leans on the piano, perhaps a little further forward than necessarily appropriate, but at this point in the party she's too relaxed to pay attention to details like that.] I don't know how to properly thank you for all this. It's been wonderful.

[Anyone paying close enough attention could tell Francesca's been making a very deliberate path in his direction while casually greeting her other guests. Of course, she's also trying extra hard to make it not so noticeable. Either way, it doesn't take her too long to make her way over to him, offering him a smile and an extra strong drink.]

I'm glad you came. [Her smile grows (with a charm check of 43) as she holds the glass out to him.]

[Considering how poorly their last meeting went, Spike should probably leave well enough alone and avoid Christos for the evening.

Lookin' for anyone special, or just being way stalk-y? [ buffy has managed to sidle up beside him in all his distraction, folding her arms over her chest and joining him in scanning the crowd. it's almost like she's mocking him ... ]

[ Francesca's doing her best to mingle and casually greet new guests. She's trying to live up to being the center of attention with a 31 Disguise check and this dress. ]

[Despite his antisocial nature Morgan's pretty polite. So this is him trying his best to be more normal and wish the birthday girl a happy birthday.]

I assume I'm not going to be the first to tell you how beautiful you look on your birthday.

[ dumage struts in with a dress that seems to have forgotten a front. her hair and makeup is done to the nines and she looks super model levels of hot tonight with her insane 26 Disguise check. deal with it.

she yoinks a wine glass asap. and definitely doesn't enter with the rest of team failboat. ]

[Bitch please. You did not show up to this party tryin to look better than Faye.

Faye apparently forgets that she's the young pup in these parts. Her own disguise check of 22 leaves her lookin pretty fucking classy but still not drawing as much attention as the older woman.

So she does the mature thing and walks over with a fake smile on her face.]

I didn't realize it was that kind of party. Shouldn't you be hiding in the cake, though?

[ unlike dumage, tia's not really dressed up at all, just looking normal in a nice top and pants as she slides into the room, a tiny package under her arm, which she goes to add to the gift table. ]

[Myri didn't know Francesca well enough to buy a gift, but now she's wondering if she's been rude by not bringing one. As she looks on all the packages that have been added to the table, she feels so guilty. It's because of this that she doesn't realize that she's blocking the table from anyone else adding their gifts too. She turns and notices a woman with a gift in hand.]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... [She says while moving aside.]

[ oh hey is that val'drin kind of chatting his way around the perimeter of the room? apparently so. he looks a bit more frumpled than usual, as though he deliberately tried to look like he wasn't trying very hard. yep. ]

[I'm sure they'll run into each other at some point. After she's had a few drinks, that is. She raises an eyebrow, taking in his appearance.] Rough week?

[Faye will be mingling and lookin good. She's drinking something she probably shouldn't, but look at all the fucks she gives!

She's not quite bored enough to start trouble, but definitely headed that way.]

[ Lear is always bored enough to start trouble. Right now she's just examining the decor, however, picking up a bunch of flowers off the mantel and inspecting the vase. ]

[ She's dressed neck to toe in a black dress that is as red as her glass of wine when the light hits it. When she puts the vase back, she keeps the flowers: the first thing she does is turn and offer one to Faye. ]

[Morgan's off to the side somewhere, sitting at a table all by himself and trying to not to stick out too much. After all what kind of a loner would he be if he wasn't... alone?]

[Andie looks fine, if a bit mussed from running (disguise check 13), and she's wearing a cute yellow sundress. She's not bothered by her less than perfect looks, though. She's here to have a good time! Which, in her case, means food and dancing.]

He saunters over to Andie at some point in the night.]

Well hello there.

[ The words are under her breath as she crosses the room. Lear gives him a flick of her fingers in what could be a hello wave, and smiles like a land-shark. So far she's just been mingling, but now? Girl is intent. ]

[um of course finnick is at francesca's party. she's his gurl. not like that tho. anyway, he's feeling a lot more relaxed after the secret meeting log that tifa didn't get to see ha ha ha and is wandering around the floor telling people hi and generally attempting to make small talk. he's not wallflowering, but still relatively subdued compared to his appearance at the last big castle shindig.

i was going to be a little girl and find the perfect picture of justin hartley being all fancy but i'm tired now so just imagine finnick in a black dress shirt or smth looking fly as hell.]

anyway he's the first person buffy sees that she recognizes because well he's easier to recognize than the people she hasn't seen in months. so she heads over. ]

Guess we made it back in time for the important stuff after all. [ there's a certain chipperness there because she's basically just holding back a big bubble of WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE MYRI. ]

[ buffy spent her time getting ready with a disguise check 14 and the results, well, aren't bad. she's wearing her hair up and mustering smiles despite being called back under less than ideal circumstances, but they're about as subdued as the colors she's wearing. nothing bright and glowing.

the invitation made its way out in time for her to pick up a gift for francesca in chicago, which is tucked in a plain-looking gift bag. she goes to track down the gifts table to set it down for the knight to get to whenever she gets to them.

once she's done that, she busies herself going to find food and glancing around with strained earnestness to try and spot faces she recognizes. it's been a while. ]

[Buffy's looking a lot better than Spike is, with his bruises and disguise check of 5, but the smile that crosses his face when he sees her lights up his face so he looks almost presentable (charisma check 13). After that beautiful night spent talking and reading poetry, it's hard to deny how much... affection he's developed for her.]

Buffy! [He makes his way to her after getting her attention.] You look lovely. [As usual.]

[Myri is thankful to Buffy for helping her find a dress for the party, since she's still getting the hang of this strange world and its odd clothing.

She's kept an eye out for those from the mission group, hoping to chat with them about the meeting with Wynn. But she's also hopeful to see some of those that weren't on the mission with her. She's been worried about everyone while she was away.]

Now, was I right about the purple, or was I completely right about the purple? [ buffy's hanging out with her because at this point it's just default. they're kind of hip-attached. ]

[Spike's disguise check of 5 means he's... not exactly the belle of the ball. But in his defence... he didn't try that hard. He still has some mostly-faded scrapes bruises, and his precious coat has seen better days, though he's still stubbornly wearing it. But he's here, and he's looking... uh... he's here. Poking at the food table, mostly.]

[Guess what, Spike? Myri missed you. Quite a lot, actually. And you're such a sight for sore eyes that she doesn't even bother caring that you may not want the hug that is totally coming your way.

She throws her arms around his neck and hangs onto him, so glad to see that he's alright. She knows that he's not exactly great at making friends. And it wouldn't have surprised her to hear that Kat had shot him while they were separated.]
