[Earlier in the week all DRAKENET devices received a message announcing Francesca's birthday party, courtesy of Sir Bancroft, to be held the evening of July 11. No RSVP needed. It's especially good timing now that many mission groups have returned to the castle, at least for the time being.

As the guests make their way in, it's clear the party's been well stocked with food and drink. There's plenty of room for mingling and some music in the background. Gifts are completely optional, but welcome. Come in and get comfortable.]

[um of course finnick is at francesca's party. she's his gurl. not like that tho. anyway, he's feeling a lot more relaxed after the secret meeting log that tifa didn't get to see ha ha ha and is wandering around the floor telling people hi and generally attempting to make small talk. he's not wallflowering, but still relatively subdued compared to his appearance at the last big castle shindig.

i was going to be a little girl and find the perfect picture of justin hartley being all fancy but i'm tired now so just imagine finnick in a black dress shirt or smth looking fly as hell.]

anyway he's the first person buffy sees that she recognizes because well he's easier to recognize than the people she hasn't seen in months. so she heads over. ]

Guess we made it back in time for the important stuff after all. [ there's a certain chipperness there because she's basically just holding back a big bubble of WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE MYRI. ]

[he's highly recognizable. it comes with the territory of being famous. AND SINCE YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON HE'S WEARING THIS with a non-natural 20 disguise check ftr.]

I don't know about that. You may have missed an important memo or two. [he gives a sly smile like one he has given so many times before in his life of withholding secrets.]

Or a big, fat yelling-at by Wynn? Not sorry I missed that one. [ she glances away from him to size up the crowd, looking remotely distracted. ] How bad was it?

I thought it went well. [he follows her gaze, trying to figure out what she's looking at.]

[ she stops glancing around, apparently unable to find whatever she was looking for. or whoever. ]

Really? Well? Well as in we're not fired well?

For the time being. [he steps a little closer and presses a finger over his lips in a shhh motion.] Don't celebrate over the network, though. Information may have been leaked, and it's better to be misleading.

[Myri wasn't happy to leave the mission, but being in the castle has lifted her spirits. She feels a bit silly in the dress that Buffy helped her pick out, but there's no time to change now.

She's spotted Finnick several times over the course of the party, but he's always been talking to someone, so she kept her distance. She didn't want to be rude, after all. Tucking her hair behind one ear, Myri tries to act casual as she approaches once he's wrapped up a conversation.]

It's good to see Wynn left you in one piece.

[it's ok bb girl. finnick is wearing this. just so everyone knows. and myri shouldn't feel silly at all, because looking at her is making finnick feel a little awestruck. she's just. so pretty. :'( he doesn't know what to do with himself. but he grins and tries to act just as casual in responding.]

I agree. It was close, I almost lost an arm. [he waves the arm he ~almost lost~ with dramatic flair. BUT THEN HE REMEMBERED MYRI IS A TENDER DELICATE FLOWER AND RECOVERS.] I couldn't, though, not after that promise I made to you.

[nailed it.]

[His grin and antics immediately wash her nerves away. Talking to him is easy. She forgot that while they were apart. She reaches out and lightly touches the arm he was flailing, wrapping her hand around the crook of his elbow, as if to confirm for herself that it is indeed real.]

Good. [She says with a smile.] I'm rather fond of you with both arms.

[he keeps his arm extended for her, so she can. and then gently slides it around so they're holding hands all kawaii-like. ]

It would be difficult, I imagine. Having to learn how to do everything one-handed. Couldn't your healing magic do anything for that?

[witchwoman]

[O-oh... Myri glances down at his hand holding hers, and her fingers flex, laced between his. It feels strange, but nice. She won't admit it, but she's never held hands with a boy before. She's never stayed in one place long enough for anyone to think of her that way.]

Grow you a new arm? [She says with a burst of laughter.] I'm afraid even magic has its limits. Let's just continue keeping your limbs firmly attached. It's worked out quite well so far.

[she should probably get used to it, because he's a handholder. it's kind of his thing. he squeezes her hand gently.]

It was worth asking. Anyway, my arm was in no danger from Wynn to begin with. The meeting went much smoother than anticipated.

I'd say something about cleaning up nicely, but it's hard to improve on the foundation you have going for you.

[oh snap. hey gurl. he turns and gives her a once over before smiling all slyly.]

I could say the same for you. Did the dress come like that?

How goes the life of glitter and glitz?

There's more social politics to it than there is glitter, but that's nothing new.

Nothing I didn't already talk about at the meeting. If you want things not worth knowing, however, I have far more of that.

[As soon as she notices him, she heads in his direction with a big smile on her face. She seems a little less reserved than usual, but that's probably due to all the alcohol she's consumed. She puts a hand on his arm to grab his attention, adding lightly:] Hey.

Francesca! [he smiles back at her, placing his hand over hers.] If it isn't the woman of the hour. How have you been?
