[Earlier in the week all DRAKENET devices received a message announcing Francesca's birthday party, courtesy of Sir Bancroft, to be held the evening of July 11. No RSVP needed. It's especially good timing now that many mission groups have returned to the castle, at least for the time being.

As the guests make their way in, it's clear the party's been well stocked with food and drink. There's plenty of room for mingling and some music in the background. Gifts are completely optional, but welcome. Come in and get comfortable.]

[Faye will be mingling and lookin good. She's drinking something she probably shouldn't, but look at all the fucks she gives!

She's not quite bored enough to start trouble, but definitely headed that way.]

[ Lear is always bored enough to start trouble. Right now she's just examining the decor, however, picking up a bunch of flowers off the mantel and inspecting the vase. ]

[ She's dressed neck to toe in a black dress that is as red as her glass of wine when the light hits it. When she puts the vase back, she keeps the flowers: the first thing she does is turn and offer one to Faye. ]

[Faye arches an eyebrow in questioning confusion as she takes the floor.]

Pretty sure you've got that right. I'm Faye.

[She'll see how this plays out. Crazy can at least be entertaining.]

[Wow, Faye, looking good. Not that Spike's ever met her. But he's thinking it might be nice to meet her. So he pauses as he gets nearer.]

Are you new?

[She arches an eyebrow at him, torn between sarcasm and wondering who the hottie is.]

I prefer Faye. And you are?

Spike. I've been out on a mission for months. [Yeah, he's so cool and important.] Pleasure to meet you, Faye.

[She can smell the self-importance on you, Spike. But since you're new and attractive, she'll play into your ego driven hand.]

I'm sure it is. So... this mission of yours. Was it dangerous?

[bigbad]

Of course. Like they send us on any other kind. [More dangerous than he can even admit with what he knows now.]

[She slides a step closer.]

Really? I'd love to hear all about it.

[bigbad]

[She's not particularly subtle about her interest, but after dealing with Buffy's mixed signals all night, that's pretty nice. This girl actually seems to know what she wants.]

We fought two displacer beasts. Ever seen one of those? Nasty things.

[See, the thing is... is that Faye's more subtle than she lets on. Her interest isn't really in him as much as it's about what he can offer her. If he's someone important, come back from a dangerous mission, then she wants to be seen with him.]

Can't say I have. Sounds... big.

[bigbad]

Not really. But it had this magic... disruption field thing. [He waved a hand vaguely. He's not nearly as important as he's acting, but he's always happy to brag.] So they were bloody impossible to hit.

[She visibly perks at the mention of magic.]

Must not have been impossible if you're here to tell me about it. So what's your secret?

Well, I got lucky a few times. [And Buffy got luckier.] Wasn't so tough once my fist actually connected.

[telekinect]

[ and she'll mingle her way close to where tia stands, glass in hand, holding onto it as if it's an anchor to get her through this thing. she says with a tinge of dry humor: ] Enjoying yourself?

Oh yeah. I can barely contain my excitement. [Between some less than interesting conversations and a lack of anything really happening. Only plus side is she's been helping herself to the booze.]

I take it this isn't really your scene.

[reallywicked]

Depends on your definition of 'my scene' and what this is. People are calling this a party, which is usually my scene. But this party is lamer than a war vet.

Hence the problem.

Well, it's thrown in honor of someone who's more into tasteful elegance than midnight raves.

I'm not sure I like what you're implying.

[ she simply chuckles ] You don't have to take it as an attack. You're young, and of a very different generation than Francesca, not to mention she's elven, and the elven definition of partying is very different from a short-lived race.

[ tia's eyebrow jerks up ] Far from the only one in the castle here.

I mean, I know those weirdos at the temple though they were... moon elves, or whatever. But you're saying that people here..?
