[Earlier in the week all DRAKENET devices received a message announcing Francesca's birthday party, courtesy of Sir Bancroft, to be held the evening of July 11. No RSVP needed. It's especially good timing now that many mission groups have returned to the castle, at least for the time being.

As the guests make their way in, it's clear the party's been well stocked with food and drink. There's plenty of room for mingling and some music in the background. Gifts are completely optional, but welcome. Come in and get comfortable.]

[Myri is thankful to Buffy for helping her find a dress for the party, since she's still getting the hang of this strange world and its odd clothing.

She's kept an eye out for those from the mission group, hoping to chat with them about the meeting with Wynn. But she's also hopeful to see some of those that weren't on the mission with her. She's been worried about everyone while she was away.]

[slay]

Now, was I right about the purple, or was I completely right about the purple? [ buffy's hanging out with her because at this point it's just default. they're kind of hip-attached. ]

[witchwoman]

[Truer words were never spoken. After that mission, these two are stuck like glue. It's a bond she's happy to have forged, though, and having Buffy nearby makes everything slightly easier.]

It's a beautiful dress. [But she's looking around the room instead.] I forgot how grand the castle was.

[slay]

I know what you mean. [ she shifts in a way that looks vaguely uncomfortable, watching the crowd. ] It's been forever. [ what she really means is i feel like i barely know these people. none of them are kat or myri or hell even dumage. ] We'll adjust. ... Right?

[witchwoman]

[Much like Buffy did in Chicago, Myri reaches down and squeezes Buffy's hand.] Of course we will. We faced impossible monsters and terrible foes. We can do anything.

[And she almost believes how much faith she has in herself. But something about standing together with Buffy makes her know she can be stronger. Between the two of them, they can handle just about anything, as far as she's concerned.]

[slay]

[ a smile works its way onto her face, brighter than she's given all night, and she looks over at myri with a strengthened look. she squeezes her hand back. ]

Mm. Still, I don't think I'd say no to a few full-grown displacer beasts right now. At least those I know how to handle.

[witchwoman]

[She muffles a laugh.] Only you would hope for such a thing. [But it's said with fondness.] I at least want to try to find the others- make sure everything went alright while we were away.

And it couldn't hurt to have a bit of fun, I suppose.

[slay]

[ there's a bit of a sheepish look at that, but well ... it's true. buffy knows battle. battle's easy. not fun, always, but easy. it's this stuff that's hard. ]

Would I be totally lame if I said I kinda missed Team New Orleans? [ her nose crinkles in amusement, because, well, it's only been a few days, but so much happened in italy, it feels like longer. ]

[witchwoman]

If you are, then I suppose I am as well. [She admits.] We were together for quite some time. It's easy to get used to that closeness.

[slay]

It's a little like family. [ she hesitates to say it, but god she doesn't even remember her real family or what it was like. team failboat is the closest she's got. ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri just nods her agreement. She's never had family... or not much of it, and none at all for a very long time. She remembers enough to remember that. Having what she has with the failboaters is more of a foreign world than all the rest.]

Exactly. [A pause] But a family can grow. We'll all have other missions, and we likely won't always all be together.

[slay]

[ she deflates a little at that, finally loosing her hand from myri's. she fidgets. ]

... I guess I kinda forgot. That it wouldn't always be like that.

[SVEN'S DISPLACER BEAST IS WATCHING YOU FROM AFAR, BUFFY.

[ she killed your sisters and cousins and brothers and uncles. ]

[rationalizes]

[ annnd she'd spy gar cruising through the crowd, offering polite little apologies to those she brushes into, as her eyes scan faces, looking continuously a bit disappointed beneath her smiles ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri does see Gar and is confused by her actions. It seems very... un-Gar-like. So like any concerned friend, Myri's gonna butt in. She dives into the crowd, trying to head Gar off.]

Looking for someone? [She greets her with a smile, because aww yay reunions.]

[rationalizes]

Oh! Myri, hello... [ she goes slightly pale for a moment, but then shoots her a much more genuine smile ] I, er, lost ... Kat.

[witchwoman]

[That perks her worry- part for Kat and part for Gar, because she's acting strange. Sense motive: 18]

Is she in some sort of trouble?

[rationalizes]

[ it's hard to tell but... she might be lying. ] Hm? Oh, no! She said she needed to change and spirited off.

[witchwoman]

[That... sounds like Kat.]

I can help you look for her.

[rationalizes]

Oh, it's really not necessary, I -- I assure you. [ she flashes a smile, but it seems forced. and then trains her eyes around, nodding about ] Plenty of people to catch up with, after all!

[ she knots her fingers together, rocking on her heels in place once ] Though, admittedly... I imagine that most of those I speak with often were... part of our team...

[witchwoman]

[That overly concerned look is back.]

Are you... are you sure you're alright? If something's wrong or if someone's hurt... I can help.

[rationalizes]

Oh, it's nothing like that at all, I assure you! [ she places a hand reassuringly on myri's shoulder ] You needn't worry, though you are a dear to do so.

[witchwoman]

[She looks at the hand and smiles.]

I think after all the danger of the mission, I'm having a hard time adjusting back to being home.

[rationalizes]

It can certainly be taxing to find your danger sense won't turn off. [ a wan smile ] Always looking over your shoulder... Sometimes it's almost a relief to go back out there so that they'll actually be something there sometimes.
