The Knights split up, Tia taking Rose, Dimitri, and Amrita in the rented vehicle towards two of the more distant sites from the hotel, while Eric leads Aurelius and Lila through the back alleys of the city to somewhere nearby. It's late by now, and Chicago is alive with the sights and sounds of nighttime in the distance. A light rain falls, dripping off the overhangs of the roofs above and pooling against the sidewalks.

[Finally Rose at least look as though she's been placated, refocusing on the bartender as the conversation turned back in the direction she'd wanted it to be going all along.]

Good thing we're not trigger happy new blood then, huh.

[Almost grinning as her eyes follow his, remembering the guy in question from before.

A plan of action might have been a good idea or at the very least, a few more questions fired at the bartender to make sure they knew what they were walking into but with a Crit Fail on that decision? Rose Hathaway and well thought out plans never had gone hand in hand so why should now be any different.]

[Totally ignoring the warning from the bartender as she pushes off and takes advantage of the ID situation to break away from the group and make a beeline straight for Hunter-Guy, sliding into the chair next to him and leaning on the bar as she gives him an expectant look.]

So I hear you're the guy to talk to about what's been happening around here.

[sylar definitely heard and saw dean (spot 19) here was at least familiar with him and his reputation (streetwise check 13). however, he hadn't deemed him worthy of any special attention. it's not like he has time to play footsie with every hunter in chicago, ok.

BUT HE SURE IS PAYING ATTENTION NOW. while rose goes to confront dean (bless her heart), he firmly stays in position of slightly away from the kiddos' group.]

[ his attention breaks away from his deep thoughts and bottle long enough to give rose a sweeping once-over as she swings into the seat next to him. girl's all curves, ok, give him a break. it's habit. his tone is neither friendly or flirtatious though as he affixes her with a cautious, and almost downright suspicious stare. ]

Guessin' you're not talking about the price gouging going on at the bar here.

[Lila is sure this guy is swell and all, but he looks like a soupcon of clever conversation and her limit of friendliness has been hit and since she isn't getting a drink out of this she needs to rely on her other vices. It is crowded and she is claustrophobic, she only lasted this long because she was curious. With a quiet:] I need a cigarette. [she will swan outside unless someone stops her. And by someone, that clearly means Eric. Since she won't listen to anyone else.]

[ eric watches her go with a deep frown cutting across his face, as he hovers away from the table, keeping an ear on rose's conversation, but he doesn't go to stop the girl. he's probably just glad she's walking away from sylar, tbh. ]

I was thinking more along the lines of the thing that's been cutting people's heads open for fun.

[She could have tried to turn on the charm but that required patience and effort, neither of which Rose seemed to have left in her arsenal.]

I figure rather than pretend that neither of us knows what I'm talking about we could skip the crap and play a game of I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

[Which... sounded much cleaner in her head okay. Still, with a Gather Information of 14, let's see how that works out for Rose.]

[ his expression still registers distrust, but he shrugs and leans back casually in the booth. ]

[ the half-elf hesitates a moment, before awkwardly sliiiding off his stool and slipping over beside rose, looking somewhat chastised. dean looks between the two before indicating aurelius with a nod of his head and asking rose: ] This guy's a hunter? [ the incredulity actually seems pretty well placed with the two standing right next to each other. while rose exudes a definite sense of confidence and control, aurelius looks not only entirely uncomfortable in this bar, but, well, all sorts of awkward. ]

We've investigated the crime scenes. Each of them were marked with a symbol, which could either be a calling card, a framing attempt, or maybe even a red herring. We're trying to figure out which is the most likely.
