The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[David is not exactly the most social creature in the world, but he'll occasionally wander over to talk to people when the moment is right. Unfortunately, people often have to drag him onto the dance floor, so this might not be the dance partner you're looking for, but he is capable of being friendly.]

It can be a little overwhelming, at least at first.

[She'll never turn down a handsome man to talk to -- less social or otherwise. She tilts her head curiously.]

Have you been here long?

[he shrugs.]

A little over a year now. But my ... adjustment period isn't as fast as most.

[He's more of an introvert. Unless, you know, they need him to go kill people.]

I suppose everyone moves at their own pace.

[He nods.]

They do. I've just always been better with a sword in my hand than I am with socializing.

Everyone has their strengths.

[He nods.]

Still, it's good to come to these things. If anything, you'll be able to catch people you might not see too often.

I'm guessing people are often gone and separated from one another?

There are missions. We don't spend all our time hanging around the castle, at any rate.

[He nods in agreement.]

Also there is London. I had never been before I came here.

[A beat.]

At least, I don't think I was. It's hard to tell with ...

[He waves a hand to indicate the Veil.]

The veil. Right. I somehow feel lucky it hasn't affected me more. Or I don't think it has.

[He shrugs a bit.]

I haven't met anyone who doesn't know me. Beyond that ... I'm fairly certain I remember most of it. Just a few people who are a little fuzzy.

There's only a few details fuzzy for me so far.

Sounds like you got lucky. Some people fall trough and they forget everything.

I don't know. There are some things I remember that I would rather forget.

[Actually, he wouldn't. He wouldn't be able to handle things half as well as he does without it. But there are probably things some people would love to forget.]

Well, we all have a few of those.

I just think that while in some cases, it can be a bad thing - sometimes we shouldn't worry so much about what we're forgetting. Just focus on what we do.

That's probably the smartest way to go. Sometimes easier said than done though.

It is. But as far as I know, there's nothing we can do to change that yet.

It's true. And I somehow doubt it's something we'll find a way to change any time soon.

No, I don't think so either. Whatever we lost, it's probably gone for good.
