In less than twenty-four hours, everything has turned on its head.

A Knight and her allies were kidnapped by Iscariot agents for execution in Rome, barely escaping with their lives.

A mission meant to free one Knight from the influence of a dark god succeeded - at the price of another's life.

A simple recon mission at a Keijen Blade concert nearly led to two Knights committing mind-controlled suicide in front of an eager crowd.

Several Knights went to see Draken Crombe, leader of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, speak in person, and learned just how sinister his religion's dogma is.

A call from Sir Hathaway alerted Wynn to the escape of the doppelganger from the Knight's dungeons, an escape perhaps aided by Elena Gilbert.

A demigod interrupted what might have been a simple smash and grab retrieval of an artifact.

And most horrific of all, in the middle of the night, hundreds of Shadowkind in New York City awoke, and walked in a mindless trance down to the Hudson River to drown themselves. Only the quick thinking and combined efforts of the Knights present and their allies prevented all of them from succeeding.

Beset on all sides, a dark time awaits for the Knighthood - who were already suffering from the capture of Dragon's Claw Sir Thomas Bancroft at the hands of their long time enemy Dimitris Sarandis of Andres Isle.

In times such as these, the light can be difficult to find. Hope itself seems somewhere just out of reach.

[The look on her face sort of spells out that she is worried he might blow chunks.]

Peachy. [ his bluff was a 21 but he's not even really trying. ] How many more thousands of hours have we got on this thing?

[witchwoman]

A few more. [well her sense motive was 26 so she knows what's up. She moves to stand in the spot of the seat in front of him, turned around to face him, out of the way of anyone walking down the aisle.]

You're the hunter? [Im guessing someone filled them in on that much at least.] I'm Myri.

[likedillinger]

That's me. Dean Winchester.

So you in on this whole shapeshifter mess?

[witchwoman]

I was Elena's mentor before she was promoted within our group. [Hi. This is what guilt looks like.] The doppelgänger. Kyp- the one we had imprisoned. He impersonated me for a time while I was held captive.

[likedillinger]

Sorry to hear that. [ and he looks like he means it. ] Held captive by who?

[witchwoman]

A terrible man. Dimitris Sarandis. [The name alone seems to make her pale a bit more than normal. Perhaps she should leave all of this for Wynn to tell him, but it's her story, after all.]

[likedillinger]

The top dog himself, huh?

[witchwoman]

[She just nods]

I apparently grabbed his attention. Or I was the easiest target.

[likedillinger]

He must think you're one hell of a threat, if he dealt with you directly.

[witchwoman]

I have an empathic ability that he wanted to study and exploit to cause others pain. I'm no threat- just a healer.

[likedillinger]

If you're healing his enemies, that makes you a threat.

[witchwoman]

[That will earn him a small smile.]

I suppose you're right.

[likedillinger]

Course I am.

So this... ability of yours. Where's it come from?

[witchwoman]

I'm not exactly certain. I came through the Veil, but I had the gift long before then. The Stargods, perhaps? But they aren't worshipped here. I was trained in herbal treatments by the woman who raised me. The magic has just always been there, for as long as I can remember. And the empathy was always tied to it.

[likedillinger]

Kinda like a cleric, then.

[witchwoman]

Very similar, yes. When I was younger, they called me a witchwoman. Or worse. [But that was before. She tries to remind herself of that.] On this side of the Veil, the term cleric seems more common.

[likedillinger]

Well, it's not like you're hexing people.



Right?

[witchwoman]

I wouldn't know how to, even if I wanted to. But people are quick to blame a healer when the magic fails. All the good is wiped away once someone you love is lost. And it's easy to cast blame on the one you tasked to save them.

[likedillinger]

No one ever said people as a general rule were very smart. It's bull, you know that. There's plenty of evil things out there worth putting the blame on, without knockin' the good ones.

[witchwoman]

A grieving heart doesn't know how to make sense of logic. I never faulted them for how they felt. It can be difficult, though. Sometimes I feel like I'm holding my breath, waiting for that day to come again.

[It's been an emotional day and sometimes it's easier to confess things to strangers. She glances down at her lap. She has too many feelings.]

[likedillinger]

Yeah, well, as much as I'd like to tell you that ain't gonna happen, truth is, it probably will. Difference is, you can be ready for it.

[witchwoman]

[Pep talks from Dean are the worst. Myri glances away from him, out towards the aisle of the plane, seeing a few of her people in their seats along the aisle.]

I don't think a person can ever really be ready for that.

[likedillinger]

[ hahaha he crit failed a will save, but she's looking away from him, so she probably doesn't see the flash of response on his face, but she might hear it in his voice. surprise, this issue is personal for him. ] Screw 'em.

You're saving people, and you didn't ask for this. What they wanna think's their own damn fault.

[witchwoman]

[I'm not sure if it's listen, sense motive, or wis to see if Myri picks up that change in his voice, but the roll was 19 so her lowest mod would be the +5 from her wis score, SO I THINK SHE'S AWARE.

Slowly, Myri brings her gaze back towards him. She doesn't say anything for a moment. The realization that she had perhaps misjudged him sinks in, leaving her at a bit of a loss.]

If only it was that simple. [She can just keep talking as if this is only about her, but she's got that sort of look like she can see through him.]

Even if it's going to happen again, I could never regret the way I care about them now.
