[ The two groups tasked to deal with the denizens of the Shadow Village arrive on the bank of the river that bisects the capitol city of Andres in half.  The river slopes down from the woods and city around it, meaning that they're afforded a bit of concealment here, unless anyone stood at the top and looked down.  At this hour of the night, however, there's no one around.   Dovan grumbles a bit about 'blasted magic' as they shake off the disorienting sense of vertigo, while Koraith waits for Belle to confirm they've arrived in the right place.  She pats Gold on the arm as she pulls out her phone, and moments later, she nods to the others in confirmation.

The water laps gently nearby against the rocks, and in the distance, a bridge is visible that links the segregated Shadow village with its thatched roof houses, to the city proper, which seems lined with wealthy manor homes.  ]

We have both. And what looks like a bomb that I've been told is ill-advised to be used.

[ hasmed nods to gold, and to dovan, and then sets about summoning up the vault in the center of the temple as villagers look on and mutter to themselves. when it appears, he opens the door, and gestures within. ] You're advised to take arms quickly. We found ourselves... delayed, by one of those creatures on the loose.

[Oh fun. The creatures. David moves forward to get a look at what they have before glancing back to Hasmed.]

Did you notice any of those things heading this way?

Merely the remains of what I take to be your encounter on the bridge. But those creatures are all directed at the castle. Whatever comes here will likely be a dispatched threat from Sarandis himself. Several Knights overheard that he was seeking to move in and begin more aggressive searching for the escaped prisoner. That is likely what you encountered.

So we simply have to concern ourselves with the clockwork soldiers.

Ay. They could already be out searching the houses, for all we know. They'll figure out everyone's missing in no time, likely come to quell whatever's brewing here. We mean to hold the temple, and take out these metal men once and for all.

Which means the spellcasters and those who intend to stand with us should get into position.

[ hey, here comes... some more people! some kind of fancy looking people, actually. led by this nice lady. yep, it's lara and michael and dana, where the fuck did you think they were going. ] I'm glad we're not too late.

This is our home, and we've watched Dimitris poison it long enough. [ he steps up next to lara, looking between the others and nodding. ] We might not have a lot of experience in fighting but... the more hands, the better. And we can't just support these people from the shadows forever.

[David remembers those names from the briefing (wisdom 17), and he won't deny that the more hands they have on deck, the better the outcome will be. The problem is, he doesn't know what these people looked like in the first place, and he's having a hard time getting a read on them (sense motive 10). So he'll just look to Dovan, Tia and Hasmed on the decision, but will ask:]

Which of the Knights did you meet with?

Front line warriors in front of the temple, second string split between the right and the left, mages and ranged fighters to the roof, and the rest of you remaining in here for those who break through.

[ everyone in this thread should please drop a comment indicating where their characters will be going. once that's done, i'll make separate threads, and we'll get the final battle going! ]

[David draws his sword and heads to the sides. He would be front line but he also likes to flank so he's going to head to the left. He's taking the blond cat girl with him.]

[ yep, kali is following the big block of muscle, gripping her daggars loosely in one hand so she can cheerfully raise her other hand before she goes. ]

[Miles watches David go left and decides to go right himself. He's not sure he has the skills to be the first line of defense, but he's not ranged, either.]

Gold does squeeze Belle's hand as he heads off, reluctant to leave her behind with all these crazy dragon's hoard bitches, but oh well... :(]

[ penelope steps up when kali calls for a cleric, happy to offer her services ] I'm a cleric.

[ she waves the girl to the side, laying a hand gently against her wound as she allows the light from her palm to quickly mend the lesion (+16 hp).

she'll then hold her position inside the temple, near the front doors, making herself available for those injured to fall back. she's also prepared to rush out front, if need be. ]

belle runs after him actually, reaching for his arm, and putting a hand to her excalibur to indicate it tentatively. ] I won't do much good down here. Maybe I can-- Maybe I can help up there.
