The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Paige probably talked to Wynn about this before the ceremony, but it comes as a surprise to everyone else when this tiny little snip of a thing calls for everyone's attention at some point in the night when the initial hubbub has calmed a bit. She's wearing a very simple and conservative dress, and looks hella gorgeous (disguise 16)]

Hi. I don't mean to make a big show of anything, because I'm... Under the impression we're not really supposed to, but, um... I heard what happened recently on Andres and it just... it spoke to me. And if I wasn't eager to join y'all before, that did it. And I know it's not my place- I haven't met any of you properly yet and you don't know me, and I certainly don't know what you've really been through, but I still wanted to begin my time here with some hope that I can share with all of you the best way I know how. Consider my thank you for allowing me to come work with you and a thank you to what you do for the world.

After the song is done, she bows, gathers her skirts, and heads outside, taking a big gulp of fresh November air as she leans against the railing, a little overwhelmed and even more embarrassed.]

[Sweets is dressed up in his usual suit (disguise 14), and he's more than happy to listen as she sings, and is one of the people applauding when she's done.

(Or maybe he's the only one. That was good, so he shouldn't be, but even if he is the only one, he's still applauding.)

He'll give her a moment before he comes over himself, however, letting her collect herself before he compliments her performance.]

[She looks up, flushing furiously- but that's because it's cold and this outfit is actually terrible for this weather. Really.]

Lance. Hi. [She clears her throat.] Thank you. It was... probably too much, but I... have a lot of feelings about what y'all do here. I don't really know where to put my emotions. I mean... How many damsels in distress get to have the heroes that save her invite her to join their secret superhero club?

[He shakes his head, glancing back to the ballroom.]

Not at all. People express themselves different ways. I'm sure you're not the first singing knight that Wynn has seen, and you probably won't be the last.

Darn. I was really hoping I'd be the first.

[WELL RAFAEL GIOVANNI GOT REJECTED, SO MAYBE... but no. she's kidding and she giggles a bit.] I'm sure everyone's wondering what exactly I'm bringing to the table besides a good set of pipes. Keeps them guessing.

In my case, it's really just... springs healing on them- spoiler- but nobody really complains when they don't die, so... [shrug.]

I'm sure everyone likes being less crazy too. [She smiles wistfully and turns back towards the balcony.] Does it ever bother you, Lance? The kinds of horrible things people come to you with. Things they saw and did on missions.

[He takes a deep breath as he thinks for a moment, before nodding.]

It's definitely not a world I'm used to, even though I've been living in it for a long time now. But it's why organizations like this are important. They can fight against the things that people aren't prepared for. And if I can do my part to make sure they can do their jobs, then to me that's worth it.

I've lived in this world my whole life and I don't think I'm really prepared for how bad it can get. You kinda hear about things- like that horrible incident in New York- but you think... well, that's not going to touch me.

[she worries her bottom lip with her teeth.] And then you think, "Well, that's no way to think. I should be helping people getting hurt like that."

That's the hardest part, really. Trying to motivate yourself to get involved in things that wouldn't normally happen to you that could be dangerous. I think that's what makes this whole organization so remarkable.

The fact that so many people join up to risk their lives for other people and make the world better. [she sighs wistfully.] We'll... see if I'm still this perky about it after my first mission, but I think I'm resilient enough.

[and she survived being the victim in a situation the knights were in. being the knight has to be better than that. hahahaha....]

Faye watches the performance from the back of the ballroom, drinking heavily throughout, because she may need to be hammered for the entire length of this bitch's squiring.

It's like she's being punished. Wynn hated her. She was positive of that now.

Watching the woman leave once her song was finished, Faye debated just... leaving the party, but she's got to do this mentor thing sooner or later, right? With a heavy sigh, she takes a fresh drink and heads outside to meet her songbird of a squire.]

That was... something... [Her face basically shows exactly how not on board she is for the musical portion of the evening.]

[ahahaha she rolled a 22 wisdom check to catch faye's disdain, so she just looks like her puppy has been kicked right now.]

It was... probably too much. I know. I just didn't know how to thank everyone any other way.

Well, it's not like I'm going to... turn the Knighthood into a musical every day. [she waves a hand, blushing furiously, and unable to even look faye in the eye... and not because faye is taller than she is.] It was a...an... incident of passion. That has now passed.

Good. [A normal person might back off but Faye just still looks judgy as fuck. Also have they met yet? Gonna go with no since Faye likely wouldn't do meet and greet beforehand.]
