The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

There's often an element of it - or at least the risk of danger - but if it isn't your strong suit, you needn't worry overly much. You'll never be assigned to missions without others, and there'll almost always be a member or two of the Hide along with you. It's our job to make certain the others remain safe.

[Well, that's a relief.] Do you teach people how to fight, too?

It's part of my duties here, yes.

[ Thrilled 8| ] Did you have an interest in a particular field?

[Good, she thought so. 8) But really, she already has a history of following elves around. Luthir is doomed.]

I'm not picky. You're the weapons expert; whatever you think is best.

Well, we will probably avoid a longsword, for the time being.

Avoiding a chance to lose fingers and toes? Sounds good.

Perhaps something a bit less sharp.

Lightweight's also a plus, if we're making a list.

Surprisingly good. Or decent, I guess. Just decent.

[She needs to remember she's talking to a weapons expert here.]

Hmm. [He looks her over thoughtfully] We'll see what 'decent' amounts to, soon.

[mellifluence]

[Yeah, that look wasn't unnerving at all...]

Um, do you dance, or?

[luthir]

[The look that passes through his eyes seems to be close to surprise, but it doesn't register otherwise on his expression] I've been known to, on occasion, yes.

Would you like to?

That's what I was getting it. You can say no.

Why would I? [He places a hand across his stomach and gives her a bow that manages to seem stiff, yet fluid at the same time. ELF MAGIC. And then rises and offers her his hand.]

[There really is something attractive about that elf magic, but she tries to mask that after she lays her hand in his.]

I just thought I should give you a way out, in case you wanted it.

How very thoughtful of you. [He settles them into a place on the dance floor, reaching politely for her waist, and keeping her other hand, as he switches effortlessly into step]

I do try.

[She hadn't really thought he would say yes, so it's still a little surprising, but thankfully she can keep up. She could never claim to be as flawless, but at least she doesn't embarrass them both.]

What else do you do, other than your work here? Or is there no time for fun between entertaining squires and defending knights?

There's as much time as you'd like there to be. I prefer to find my peace in solitary pursuits, considering that every other aspect of our lives here lends itself to a great deal of socialization. It helps me to clear my thoughts.
