Not all international intrigue happens in presidential palaces, plush business offices, and smoky dives next to waterfronts.  Some happens in the coldest, dreariest parts of the world.

The Ukrainians expect the Knights to head for the Russian research station from the drop point, stop to disable both the helicopter and communications tower, then enter the compound. Once there, they are to find Prytyka and question him on camera, transmitting this conversation live via a satellite uplink with their contact, Kuchma.

They are currently been flown to the drop point 2 miles from Adelie 14, and Kuchma is on the plane with them, providing them all with arctic gear and final requests.  They have access to thermal undergarments, snowsuits, boots, parkas, snow goggles, gloves and mittens, as well as a portable satellite phone and video camera, and several AKSU-74 sub machine guns.

"Many firearms are unreliable in the extreme Antarctic weather, so you might wish to take one," Kuchma cautions.

[ it's allison who spots them first: 100 feet away to the south a group is moving through the snow, dressed all in white to try and blend in. she even catches that there's another group to the east being dropped off as well. both groups seem to be made of 4 armed soldiers, heading quickly that way.

the group to the east moves in first, clearing seventy feet before they stop and fire on drax (atks 20/20/8/11, dmg 5 & 8 on the 20s if they hit) ]

[Allison spots both groups and directs Drax's attention to them as they move.

She readies her bow and waits for a clear shot of the group to the East, aiming and firing twice at Group Member A. (atk 27 / dmg 8 || atk n20 / dmg 22)]

[What sort of assholes wait around at ranged distance when they could be getting right up where Drax can kill them? He charges forward, attacking whichever guy has the unfortunate luck to be first with a MIGHTY FIST (atk 22 dmg 20 with penetration).]

[ allison's first arrow whizzes through the air, streaking through the cold and taking Soldier A in the shoulder. She has the second notched and fired before he can even react - and that one takes him right between the eyes, knocking him off of his feet and down for the count. drax follows quickly in the arrow's wake, cracking a soldier right in the side of their helmet with a staggering blow. the man shuffles a few feet to the right, and the group further to the south freezes in uncertainty at the onslaught, losing their turn, even as the soldiers they're engaging move quickly to react. Soldier B recovers enough to try and hit drax with the butt of his rifle, but is too disoriented to come anywhere near him (atk 9). Soldier C backs up away from Drax and B, unloading his AK at drax - reflex save DC 15 or he takes 6 dmg. Soldier D focuses on allison instead - reflex save DC 15 from her or she'll take 9 dmg. ]

[Allison moves quickly (reflex 19) and avoids the attack from Soldier D. She shifts her focus to Soldier D firing twice in succession (atk 22 | dmg 8 / atk 27 | dmg 11) trying to keep him from attacking her again.]

[Drax's reflexes are too fast to get injured (reflex 26) and he ignores Soldier C entirely to focus on continuing to murder Soldier B (atk 27, dmg 11, atk 21 dmg 12, atk 10).]

[ two arrows streak through the air and find purchase in D's tactical vest, embedding themselves there and slowing him visibly, but he doesn't drop the weapon. meanwhile, drax's first hit is enough to crack the soldier's neck aside - the second is just overkill, and he misses the third because the body slumps beneath his oncoming fist, landing face first in the snow.

the southern group, watching half the others fall so quickly, respond to a sharp foreign command from one of their number, moving in another 30 feet (leaving them 70 away), and unloading their AKs. two fire at allison (reflex DC 15 or 7 dmg / ref 15 or 20 dmg) and two at drax (ref 15 or 8 dmg / ref 15 or 15 dmg) from the safety of a distance.

the two remaining soldiers near to allison and drax fall back about fifteen feet, and keep firing (ref 15 or 4 dmg @ allison from the very wounded D, whose spray goes wild, and ref 15 or 6 dmg from the rather panicked looking soldier C) ]

[Allison tries to move out of the way of the first shot, but it lands (reflex 13) pushing her back slightly as she moves with the force. It helps her miss the second shot (reflex 19), but she's definitely going to be hurting in the morning.

Rather than dwell on her injuries, she lines up another shot. Of course she doesn't get far before the other soldier take fire on her and once more some of those shots hit (reflex 10 | reflex 16). Shaking it off, she refocuses and aims at soldier D. (atk 25 | dmg 14) Then shifts her focus to C (atk nat 20 | dmg 18)]

[Drax manages to dodge both the attacks at him (reflex 16, reflex 23), then charges forward to attack on soldier C (atk NAT 20, dmg 22) before heroically surging (see what I did there) towards soldier D and punching him in the face (atk 25 dmg 10, atk 22 dmg 8).]

[ allison's first arrow gets D right through the helmet, knocking him hard onto his back, gun clattering to the snow, as he lies there motionlessly. C gets another one right in the chest, and then drax downs him with a powerful fist driven into his head. which means he doesn't have to heroic surge since they're all dead o__o

that leaves the four to the south, who hold their position and keep firing from their position 70 feet away: ref DC 15 or allison takes 14 dmg from A and 10 dmg from B, and drax 7 from C and 7 from D. ]

[She easily makes that save (21) and shifts her focus from the pile o'dead to the ones trying to make some attempt. She fires off (far shot) at A from the second group. (atk 15 | dmg 14 / atk 16 | 9 - if those even hit).]

[The blows hit Drax this time (reflex 14, 10), and it makes him let out a roar of rage as he charges at the other four, slamming his fist into whichever one is closest (atk 23 dmg 8).]

[ both of allison's shots whizz past A's head, unfortunately, but Drax follows after the missiles, slamming a fist into the soldier's helmet. B backs away to fire on Drax (ref 15 or 7 dmg), while A swings at his head with the butt of his gun (atk 11).

C and D stay focused on Allison (ref 15 or 9 and then 10 dmg) ]

[Allison makes those 19/16 and shifts her aim slightly trying to compensate for the shots she missed. She moves her aim to C (atk 26 | dmg 12, atk 27 | dmg 14)]

[Drax makes his reflex save and turns his attention back towards A, angrily slamming his fists at the guy (atk 25 dmg 7, atk 16 dmg 6, atk 17 dmg 8 just in case those last two hit).]

[ C reels from both blows, barely hanging on, while A manages to avoid two pummelling blows from drax. his 14 attack however, is not enough to strike him back. B fires on him for 14 dmg if he fails the Ref 15. C & D stay focused on allison (dmg 17 & 20 if she fails her Ref 15). ]

[Allison makes her first ref save with 22, but then the second one hits with 13. no bueno. However, she still focuses on her targets, this time splitting between one attack to C (atk 25 , dmg 12) and one attack to D (atk nat 20 (30 total) , dmg 20).]

[Drax's reflex save of 20 is enough to keep him safe, and he continues to pummel A relentlessly (atk crit fail, atk 27 dmg 8, atk 26 dmg 14 with penetration).]

[ allison's shot whizzes right into C's neck, downing him entirely, and the next takes D right through the helmet in the face, sending him reeling back a few steps.

drax's first punch lands on the gun as the soldier holds it up to defend his face, and he winds up hurting himself as he snaps it for 1 dmg. with nothing else to guard himself however, A is knocked down for the count by the other blows.

only two remain, and B unloads 7 dmg @ drax if he fails the save, while D tries one last attempt at taking allison down (11 dmg if she fails the 15 ref save) ]

[Allison keeps her focus and makes that save (25) so that she can just shift her aim and continue to attack D. (atk 20 | dmg 11 // atk 27 | dmg 9)]

[Drax growls as he avoids the bullets again (reflex 19) and he moves in to attack B, but he overshoots a little (atk 12).]
