Not all international intrigue happens in presidential palaces, plush business offices, and smoky dives next to waterfronts.  Some happens in the coldest, dreariest parts of the world.

The Ukrainians expect the Knights to head for the Russian research station from the drop point, stop to disable both the helicopter and communications tower, then enter the compound. Once there, they are to find Prytyka and question him on camera, transmitting this conversation live via a satellite uplink with their contact, Kuchma.

They are currently been flown to the drop point 2 miles from Adelie 14, and Kuchma is on the plane with them, providing them all with arctic gear and final requests.  They have access to thermal undergarments, snowsuits, boots, parkas, snow goggles, gloves and mittens, as well as a portable satellite phone and video camera, and several AKSU-74 sub machine guns.

"Many firearms are unreliable in the extreme Antarctic weather, so you might wish to take one," Kuchma cautions.

[Drax has, eventually, accepted a parka, though he still isn't wearing a shirt. He's got good boots on, at least.]

[Two things that don't go together? Australians and Cold weather so, yeah you bet Frankie is loading up on gear. It's legit to wear layers of thermal undergarments, right?!]

You g-got any s-spare ammo for those? [And she'll take one of those too.]

[so much winter weather. sylar is faring better than frankie, as he is from new york, but damn son it's cold. doesn't mean he has to like it. stocking up on this sexy winter wardrobe stuff tbh. but not the machine guns, because — ] I'm the same as him. [he tilts his head towards drax. which is funny bc drax is built like the hulk and sylar looks like jack skellington so it makes u wonder...]

[ kutchma nods, reaching down to grab some more for frankie, while syd outfits herself in the provided winter gear without complaint. kutchma goes on as they finish preparing: "The plan is to insert you about an hour before dusk. You'll be extracted from the same site as the drop, beyond a rocky ridge, just after dawn. Should it become necessary, you can call for an extraction closer to the camp and before daybreak if you wish, using these phones. Weather this time of year is very unpredictable, and though it should cooperate for the next 24 hours or so, this favorable window may not stay open very long. On foot, the hike to the camp should take about an hour from the drop site, if you move straight for the facility. The communications cluster where the tower is will be located on that route." ]

Patrols around the communication cluster, security cameras or both? [Glancing back at Kutchma as she starts pulling on all the layers.]

[ the communications cluster is secured with a simple padlock, and syd nods to frankie to try it first, drawing her gun and holding it barrel-pointed-up with both hands as she keeps a close eye out for movement. ]

[while frankie works on that, sylar ... stands around and attempts to look imposing with his arms crossed. his brain is the weapon, ok.]

[Well that sure was a Nat 20 Disable Device check so Frankie could have basically looked at that lock and it would have opened itself for her.]

Easy part down... [ Moving past the - idek, gate/fence/ whatever is securing the comms tower pretty much.]

[ the padlock is on the shack door, so when she pops that, they head inside. sydney does a cursory inspection of the tech within ] It's a junction station - it connects all the of compound's communications devices. Radio, Internet, direct satellite links to their other facilities, it all goes through these transmitters. [ she looks to frankie ] Do you think you can disable them without damaging the equipment?

[Allison nods at the choice to split away from the group. She hasn't really had much time to talk to Drax, but he seems a pretty "WYSIWYG" type.]

I'm sure they won't have any trouble with the tower. [She tries to start small talk as she stays alert (listen 21, spot 11) keeping watch.]

[Drax pauses to look at her, massive brow furrowing. Small talk isn't really his strongest suit and he doesn't really understand why she thinks he needs reassurance in this matter.]

They have given me no reason to doubt their competence.

[Meanwhile, he keeps his eyes open as well (spot 19, listen 15).]

[Yep. Smalltalk is a no-go.

Silence. It's what's for dinner. Or... you know snow trudging.

Though, the silence makes her thing a lot.]

You fought at Andres, right?

Yes. I destroyed many enemies. [It's just his thing. Destruction and not wearing a shirt. And being green.] Did you fight as well?

[ as they make a beeline for the actual facility, syd pulls up the map they've been provided ] We probably want to avoid the main entrance. We could try to enter through one of the generator rooms. It looks like they all open to the outside.

That gives us three options: the one through the labs, the one through the living quarters, and the one smack dab in the middle. We're supposed to find Prytyka here, right?

[Considering how abandoned the equipment had been, she's wondering what the local time is... because if they aren't near the equipment -- are they all in their living quarters?]

If we go up the middle we could split up, but we might be better off just starting at one end and working our way through.

I'd personally prefer the team stick together. Why don't we start near the labs?

[Dipper heads to the door and positions himself right in front of it, cracking his knuckles as he prepares to take out any who attempt to pass by him.]

[With Drax in position, Allison moves to a spot behind him with a bit of height so she can see over him. She readies her bow, prepared to take out anyone that Drax can't handle right away.]

[ syd bundles back out to head right outside the north doors, positioning herself around the corner of the door, slightly out of sight (hide 23) ]

[And then I spent like 20 minutes looking at the map, trying to figure out a good place for Frankie to support Syd from and if I'm reading the map right - which lbr I may not be, she follows behind her and moves up closer to the vehicle shelter, trying to take cover between the buildings. (IDEK if she can reach that in one round but if she can and can still make a nifty hide check. (Hide 18). If she can't do it in one round, she'll get as far as she can and attempt to take cover.... wherever possible.

[what if sylar just ... positioned himself on the other side of syd's doorway??? with an amazing hide 17. at least he can use his super-hearing to look out for more people coming up on them. (listen 14 ... w/e he tried.)]

[ they see the groups of soldiers approaching, even if they don't hear them: one group splitting off towards the west side of the main facility, and one coming straight down between the unheated outbuildings beside the vehicle shelters and the facility, heading for the northeast doors beside the generator. the western group doesn't seem to notice them there at all, and instead heads straight around the building on that side, obviously heading towards the doors. ]
