Not all international intrigue happens in presidential palaces, plush business offices, and smoky dives next to waterfronts.  Some happens in the coldest, dreariest parts of the world.

The Ukrainians expect the Knights to head for the Russian research station from the drop point, stop to disable both the helicopter and communications tower, then enter the compound. Once there, they are to find Prytyka and question him on camera, transmitting this conversation live via a satellite uplink with their contact, Kuchma.

They are currently been flown to the drop point 2 miles from Adelie 14, and Kuchma is on the plane with them, providing them all with arctic gear and final requests.  They have access to thermal undergarments, snowsuits, boots, parkas, snow goggles, gloves and mittens, as well as a portable satellite phone and video camera, and several AKSU-74 sub machine guns.

"Many firearms are unreliable in the extreme Antarctic weather, so you might wish to take one," Kuchma cautions.

That gives us three options: the one through the labs, the one through the living quarters, and the one smack dab in the middle. We're supposed to find Prytyka here, right?

[Considering how abandoned the equipment had been, she's wondering what the local time is... because if they aren't near the equipment -- are they all in their living quarters?]

If we go up the middle we could split up, but we might be better off just starting at one end and working our way through.

I'd personally prefer the team stick together. Why don't we start near the labs?

That's probably the best idea. I'm betting there's gonna be less people lurking around there than the living quarters.

Labs are more likely to have the evidence as well. One does not store biological weapons where they sleep if they wish to live through the night. [Even Drax has that much common sense.]

[sylar actually winces like she caused him physical pain by making such loud noises

[Allison isn't too pleased with the door slamming shut, but she just hopes that it's a commonplace sound in the building that it doesn't raise any eyebrows. Also, might as well throw in a Spot 21 | Listen 13 ]

[ it's hard to hear anything over the sound of the furnace roaring, powering heat and electricity to the whole facility. a door on the far side of the room is sealed, and sydney pulls off the panel, trying to override the thing (disable device 19), which is... not quite enough. she hisses in frustration. anyone is able to aid another her if they want to try ]

[lol Drax's disable device is a -1 so he won't be much help. But he does lean over to watch her fussing with it and offers:]

Do you want me to fry it? Because I'm not good at that espionage hacking stuff. My password is password.

... Fine. Try it. If it doesn't work, we'll have to take the next doors down.

[using an action point, he places his hand against the panel to fry it with electricity in a touch attack. which is an atk 17, with ...actually idk if the 4 dmg actually counts since he's just touching it. maybe he TOUCHED IT REALLY HARD OK. but either way, 8 electricity damage.]

[Allison watches, clearly not so sure what the deal is with that guy, but definitely not planning on ticking him off anytime soon.]

[ the plate sparks and spits beneath his touch... and then the light turns green and the door clicks open. syd throws him a little smile before she's back to all business, pushing the door open slowly and sticking her head into what looks like a storage area, mostly vials and other basic lab equipment. a single door leads out to the first lab. ]

I'm gonna guess that was the easy part.

Nah I'm sure it'll be all sunshine and rainbows from here on out. [Tone more dry than sarcastic. Frankie's default mode tbh.]

[ syd puts a finger to her lips, indicating they should go silent while they're trying to sneAK AROUND THE LABS MAYBE. she cautiously moves out into the room (move silently 27) which appears to be an environmental lab. there's no signs of anyone in here, just the hum of machinery. a door leads into another room marked 'storage' on the opposite side of the room, while to the right is a door into the main laboratory hallway. ]

[Yeah she'll zip it now and fall into step behind Syd with a Move Silently of 24, sweeping the area but possibly missing anything of interest; (Spot 15) as she tries to hear anything above the hum of machinery (Lis 14).]

[well his move silently was 16 so he's ... making some kind of effort, at least. with a spot 18 and a listen 15. he's trying ok. the struggle is real.]

[ sylar and allison notice a clipboard hanging by the door that says "Room assignments log", which lists all personnel, with their room assignments, next to the intercom. syd checks out the door and gestures to indicate that the hallway is clear. ]

[what if sylar .. gently took the clipboard for later as they pass by it ... as in that's what he's doing.]
