equipment orientation ♔ sunday afternoon
WHO || Gregor Hughes, Chiaki Yoshida, Haymitch Abernathy, Rayna Valentine, Fyrel Lear, Finnick OdairFor starters, Sir Hughes is late to the equipment briefing by a good fifteen minutes. Yep. Sorry, guys. When he does finally show up, he's coming down the hall in ridiculously casual wear, as if maybe he just rolled out of bed. He mumbles an apology as he pats his pockets down to try and locate his card, before finally discovering it was tucked behind his ear with an "Aha!" He fumbles it through the reader, and the doors labelled "Biohazard" slide open.
WHAT || Equipment Briefing
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Dragon's Hoard Laboratory
WHEN || Sunday, March 4th, 4:00pm
HOW || Actionspam; don't feel obligated to tag all threads! Just whichever ones you want to play out your char's reactions to / questions
He guides them through the bizarre multi-storied library and up the steps, beyond the models suspended from the ceiling that look like space age designs for jet planes, cars, boats, and any number of other things. At the end of the balcony he swipes his card through the reader with a much higher degree of ease and then ushers them all inside.
"Well c'mon, c'mon, don't got all day," he mutters, even if he was the one who ... showed up late. The doors depress with a space age his. revealing a clean white laboratory, with rows and rows of tables and lab equipment set up. Numerous knights buzz around in white lab coats, working under microscopes and on computers, conferring over a number of projects.
"This is one part of the lab, where the Hoard does their research and general... bomb-building or whatever," he says, waving a hand vaguely in that direction as he heads for the left hand side of the room. He places his palm on a panel there until the red light blinks green, and then moves into the narrower space there - a long room with rows of labelled cases and cabinets with transparent glass revealing what's inside.

Waiting for Zero to show up...

Hi. [It's said softly enough that she can ignore it if she wants, but at least it's out there, and then she goes about pushing her hair over her shoulder and smoothing wrinkles out of her sundress in order to give herself something to do.
Yeah, she's never had one of those fancy phones. And she's a little curious about what Chiaki is doing, but she won't intrude.]

[And here she is, making excuses for some guy she doesn't know.]
Um--you're Chiaki, right? Or, Sir Yoshida. [She has no idea how she should address people here.]

Credit Cards
[He picks up one of them: Finnick's and squeezes it so that he can peer inside] Oh, right! [He drops that again and looks across the spread, indicating they should grab theirs] Credit cards, for mission expenses. Anything you need, just slap this baby down. They'll accept 'em almost anywhere. [Each card is silver, with this logo branded on it, and the words KARTHUR INSTITUTE across the top]

Almost anywhere? [She's more curious if there's anywhere the Knights' influence doesn't extend.]

Excalibur brand pistol
If you've used a gun before, though, just show 'em you know what you're doin' and you'll be clear to do what you want. Might not even want a gun, but no one's gonna hold one to your head and make you take it out that door.
[Inside the case is a weapon that looks something like this, except that it also has the Knight's symbol of a dragon on the handle, and the words EXCALIBUR across the barrel. Below it are located several 17 shot magazines and a silencer]

the little peoplenon-Capitol/non-military-ish people don't get to handle them. Kids in the Games have to duke it out with old school weapons. So, when Finnick picks his case up off the floor, sets it on the table, and opens it, he peers down into the box with a certain amount of fascination.]Is this all we get? [he takes a second to realize he sounds like a greedy brat and amends with:] I thought there would be more weapons.

Gadgetry
[He looks across your faces, before deciding he can't tell by looking at any of you. YOU ALL LOOK THE SAME TO HIM.] Here, this one's the favorite right now. [He yanks a man's wristwatch out of a case, and hits a button on either side, causing the face to suddenly sprout tiny blades and spin rapidly like a buzzsaw] Plus, it's got lasers.

And, man, all this weird shit seems so familiar to him in a way. Shame he can't remember it. And, anyway, it seems a little excessive.] What do you use it for? A distraction? Doesn't seem very practical.
