The day has finally arrived: the 2015 Grammy's gather together musical talent at the top of the food chain, which means that NOVA Records will be well represented at this year's ceremony. Unfortunately, this includes performances from Keijen Blade's band, Heatless Passion, and Nadia Reichenov's, Derere, both of whom are working for "Chad Becksworth", aka Draken Crombe, head of the Shadowkind-hating cult, the Church of the Lord's Humanity.  Equipped with some sort of ability to hypnotize large crowds with subliminal messages, Wynn fears what lies beneath Keijen's intended performance, and is sending his Knights to shut down the broadcast, to prevent that message from being spread to millions of viewers worldwide.

Meanwhile, the gang finally has a chance to see Rafael Giovanni again - but what he's been up to in the months since they last saw him, and how his reunion with Buffy will go, remains to be seen.

Several of the Knights have decided that this is their last chance as well to try and break Nadia free from Keijen's influence, now that they've learned the truth about him - that Keijen is in fact Kel'in'hrae, sadistic son of the Nightmare God Malaak'a, likely working to free his father from the prison Sehanine had created for him.  The prison sealed by the relic that the team has been chasing for years, believing it to be an immortality-granting talisman of great power.

The truth, it seems, was worse than they could have imagined.  

One step at a time, however, and stopping the signal is first priority on Failboat's to do list for now.  With an actual plan under their belts this time, maybe this is the turning point they've been waiting for...

[Spike's restless on the plane. He has a book, but it's amazing how few pages he actually makes it through, choosing instead to drum his fingers, drink little juice boxes of blood (and some tiny bottles of booze, not that they're any good at all for a vampire), listen to Nadia's music on his phone, and generally be antsy. He'll probably eventually start watching soap operas on his phone. At least those can entertain him in a somewhat mind-numbing way for a little while.]

[ fred just gets restless on flights ok. he's a physical person, so all this sitting around for hours is torture to him. at one point, he leans up and over the empty seat next to spike in front of him, arms folded on top of it, and looks down at his phone to try to catch the song name. ] Let me guess: Hollywood Undead? [ he's a real card ]

[bigbad]

[Spike turns towards him and slowly raises an eyebrow.] Why? Feeling like you can relate?

[nepotism]

Hey now, I still show up in mirrors. [ still, he laughs good humoredly. it doesn't seem to bother him. ] Although if I get a sudden craving for brains, you'll be the first to know.

[bigbad]

We'll send Archer to deal with you if you did. You wouldn't be a threat to him at all.

[nepotism]

[ he barks a laugh at that, genuine and entertained ] So I hear. He's definitely a character, huh.

[bigbad]

That's a word for it. I'd have gone with wanker or stupid git myself.

[nepotism]

There's gotta be a reason Wynn's keeping him around.

[bigbad]

Comic relief? [Spike shrugs a shoulder.] Guess he's slightly better at shooting the enemy than his teammates.

[nepotism]

Considering I hear the same thing about my girlfriend, I guess that's sort of the bar.

[bigbad]

No wonder some people [Dumage] think we're all fuck-ups.

[nepotism]

I don't think that reputation's as prevalent as all that.

[littledhampir]

[And as Rose returns from one of her restless trips to the bathroom, she slides into a seat across from Spike, shooting him a grim attempt at a smile.]

At least LA doesn't have any rivers, right?

[bigbad]

It's got an ocean. That might be worse.

[littledhampir]

Yeaaaaah. [Eyes narrowing infinitesimally.] You had to mention that. [Hmmm. Sharkbait.] We've got Myri at least... and a decent idea how to snap people out of it if it happens again. [Or at least, snap their people out of it. She's not so sure about the millions of viewers if the plans goes to hell.]

[bigbad]

Let's hope it doesn't come to that. [Spike is NOT happy about his pregnant daughter being out and missioning around.]

[littledhampir]

Fingers crossed. [Her head turns to regard Spike a moment, lips pulled into a thin line.] You thought about what you're going to say to Nadia?

[bigbad]

Thought about it? Sure. Made any decisions? [He shrugs one shoulder.] haven't gotten much further than "Take off that bloody necklace before it's too late."

[If it isn't already too late.]

[littledhampir]

Myri's a powerful healer though, right? I mean, whatever taking the necklace does, she'll be able to help her? [Sorry Spike. Rose doesn't know jack about how the necklace worked with Jade.]

[bigbad]

I don't want Myri doing anything that might put her at risk. [Spike's brow creases, clearly unhappy about the idea, but he lets the moment pass.] I think it's a bit more complicated than the damage you can easily heal. Myri's strong, but she's not a god.

[littledhampir]

[While it's not a smiling matter, a slight grin still quirks the corner of her mouth because she's already had the 'stay safe' talk with Myri.]

So... you really think if she takes the necklace off she'll die?

[bigbad]

I hope not. But if she keeps it on... her fate'll be a lot worse than that.
