The day has finally arrived: the 2015 Grammy's gather together musical talent at the top of the food chain, which means that NOVA Records will be well represented at this year's ceremony. Unfortunately, this includes performances from Keijen Blade's band, Heatless Passion, and Nadia Reichenov's, Derere, both of whom are working for "Chad Becksworth", aka Draken Crombe, head of the Shadowkind-hating cult, the Church of the Lord's Humanity.  Equipped with some sort of ability to hypnotize large crowds with subliminal messages, Wynn fears what lies beneath Keijen's intended performance, and is sending his Knights to shut down the broadcast, to prevent that message from being spread to millions of viewers worldwide.

Meanwhile, the gang finally has a chance to see Rafael Giovanni again - but what he's been up to in the months since they last saw him, and how his reunion with Buffy will go, remains to be seen.

Several of the Knights have decided that this is their last chance as well to try and break Nadia free from Keijen's influence, now that they've learned the truth about him - that Keijen is in fact Kel'in'hrae, sadistic son of the Nightmare God Malaak'a, likely working to free his father from the prison Sehanine had created for him.  The prison sealed by the relic that the team has been chasing for years, believing it to be an immortality-granting talisman of great power.

The truth, it seems, was worse than they could have imagined.  

One step at a time, however, and stopping the signal is first priority on Failboat's to do list for now.  With an actual plan under their belts this time, maybe this is the turning point they've been waiting for...

This was entirely about wanting the bathroom for yourself, wasn't it?

[ Her nose scrunches, a clear tease, and she moves to sit beside Vi, opening up the aisle for her to head back. ]

I'll pick colors.

Yup.

[ she plucks the little bag of nail polish from the spare seat and passes it to buffy with a little grin as she trundles off to the bathroom. emerging a few minutes later, she shuffles back. ]

'kay, what'd'you pick?

[slay]

Well, I was leaning towards the white, but since we're doing formal, and it might get ugly, I want something that'll hide the blood better. [ She rustles in the bag and pulls out a bottle. ] So definitely dusky coral.

Practical and pretty, I love you.

[ she swan dives back into her seat and nudges the tray table down with her knee so they have a work space. ]

[slay]

Says the girl giving me a plane-ride manicure.

[ Buffy offers a glowing smile in answer, full of unspoken "I love you, too" as she splays her hands out on the seat tray. ]

How are you feeling, anyhow? When does flying become not-ok for you?

I dunno. Labor, probably. [ after her initial panic of I HAVE NO IDEA WHATS HAPPENING, vi has taken a very lazy approach to being pregnant. stuff is happening. things are growing. she doesn't eat sushi or bologna, but that's because she's a vegetarian, not a human incubator. ] Its pretty much par for the course except I feel fat and Finnick is the only one that will spar with me anymore. And he takes it annoyingly easy on me.

[ she makes a face as she unscrews the cap on the nail polish but it's half-hearted. ]

Maybe you should spar with Myri. We could film it and make like a million bucks on YouTube.

[ No one needs to tell her that's not how YouTube works. ]

Do you feel like you're in Alien yet?

[ idk that's pm how vi thinks it works? yay idiots. ]

Yeah. She's all kicky and violent, I'm expecting some serious Twilight reenactments in my future. She's kicking right now, 'cause I'm sitting. Babies are weird.

Yeesh. That just seems like insult to injury. It's already this big bladder-weight, but "here, have some extra oomph, in case you were almost safe from wetting your pants."

Yep. There is a serious lack of dignity in growing an entire teeny person. [ she winces a little at a particularly rough kick, but starts to paint buffy's nails without hesitation. and with a 21 dex, she does flawless work. ]

[slay]

And apparently, being light duty gal gives you time to brush up on the important things. You are really good at this. [ She holds up the fingers on one hand when it's done, unabashedly amazed. ]

[graveflowers]

I can be both violent and super cute. [ and she doesn't feel the latter so she's faking it 'til she makes it. ]

[slay]

No, no, I know. [ No doubt here. ] I'm just ... glad. [ Seeing her smile and doing cute girly things is refreshing, after all the doom and gloom of Ch 2. ] Like if you can balance it out, maybe there's hope for the rest of us.

Well, I have loads of time on my hands. I learned to quilt. I built a cradle. I made friends with a secret elf in the basement.

[ she kind of had nothing to balance, to be fair. this is the first balancing she's had to do since august. ]

... There's an elf in the basement?

Lazarus. I meant Lazarus.

[slay]

... Oh. Right. [ She straightens. ] Obviously.

[ hurr durr. ]

... He's kinda ... out there, isn't he?

[ that prompts a little smile from vi. ]

Yeah. But I mean, his blood is made of magic and he's been alone for sixty years. I get weird when I'm alone for, like, a fucking day. I'd be batshit if I were in his shoes.

But Jade's mom really wanted me to meet him, so. [ her shoulders tip in a shrug as she pushes her hair back. with the hand holding the polish, so a streak of color gets in her hair. look at the amount of fucks she gives.

[ Allow Buffy to give fucks for you. She grabs a tissue and—careful of her own nail polish—smooths the paint out of Vi's hair while she answers. ]

Did she says much? Sehanine.

She doesn't actually say anything, neither of them do. Not really. I just... know what I'm supposed to do? Does that make sense? I saw the moonbeam and I knew I was supposed to follow it, so I did.

[ a beat. ] Thanks. [ her hand, blessedly free of the polish this time, waves by her head. ]

Sorta. [ On the sense front. ] I guess I should give the angels a little more credit: at least they aren't that cryptic.

I feel like I'm supposed to be used to vague bullshit from gods, but I guess this one was a straight up answer for once. And I can see why she wouldn't have wanted to drop that bomb herself. Like, why put in all the energy to manifest on this plane just to tell the worst story ever, y'know? I'd outsource that shit, too.
