The streets of Bern swell with the myriad sights and scents of its industry: the wood and polish of carpenters' shops, tantalizing aromas wafting from dozens of bakeries, and the heavy oil scent of artists.  Meanwhile, hundreds of rich colors give the district an appearance of a holiday festival.  The townhouse of Asheron Coyl comes into view, perched on a small rise that overlooks the street.  A low fence covered in vines abuts the street.  A gate opens onto a flagstone path that wends past frozen flower beds, fountains, and sculpted shrubs to the front doors.  A bell hangs next to the gate, reading "Please ring bell" in several languages.  With an 11 disguise check, Nyna didn't really bother to dress all fancy, opting instead for her paladin armor, sorry guys.   She can be the sexy bodyguard.

[Cara's grip tightens around her agiels, moving quickly to strike at the one that had attacked Nyna. She lashes out with both of them (atk 15 dmg 7, atk 19 dmg 5)]

[Felicity decides that instead of shooting at the one that Nyna and Cara are tangling with right now and aim for Contestant #2, trying to keep her hand steady as she fires (attack 19, damage 7).]

[That moment when you realize your character has no weapons on him, because he's not field certified to carry a gun and it's hard to carry a baseball bat around while you're wearing a suit??

So instead, he just jumps out and waves his arms at the creature that Felicity goes after, because Felicity is his girl, okay.]

Hey! Calamari! Yeah, you heard me. You think you're hot stuff? Yeah well... Your mother was a sea cucumber!

[Okay so he's going to use his "taunt" talent from the Charismatic Hero class. This is mind-affecting. Creature has to have an int of at least 3. If so, he has to pass a will save of 18 to avoid being dazed for a round. Which... likely is pointless since it crit failed anyway, but it's what he would do regardless so WHATEVER.]

[ the octopus' shape almost seems to fluidly alter to avoid cara's first strike, and felicity's shot strikes captain suckface over there. stiles' taunts don't seem to bother it, however (will save 19), so maybe it doesn't... speak english. bloopy lashes out with tentacles all over the place (thanks to its ten foot reach) - at nyna again (atk 29, dmg 9), stiles (atk 29, dmg 11), and cara (atk 26, dmg 12). everyone who is struck has to make a fortitude save (DC 14) or take 1 Con damage from the poison coating its tentacles. it grabs onto nyna again and she groans as the poison drains some of her health.

with a yell, she infuses her palm with holy light and grips onto the tentacle using smite evil (atk 28; dmg 11) ]

[Well -- the tentacles manage to strike her, making her only more upset. She makes her fort save (22), clearly all her training as a Mord Sith has prepared her for the annoyance of poisons.

She does not afraid and continues to lash out at the thing that lashed out at her (atk 21, dmg 6 | atk 17, dmg 6) with another series of blows.]

[Felicity is out of the range of the tentacles from Bloopy but Stiles is not and that is not cool in her opinion. Still, Cara and Nyna seem to have that one covered, so she just worries about Captain Suckface for now, shooting at him again (attack 28, damage 14 with penetration damage).]

[ the octopus at least doesn't have room to move past bloopy very effectively with both of them taking up so much of the room. felicity's shot causes weird multi-colored blood to ooze from suckface, one of cara's strikes spurting some of the same from the other.

suckface actually retreats away from them towards the back wall, and seems to start melting into a puddle of liquid. a spot check of 16+ can identify the liquid as what appears to be oil paints. ]

[Stiles passed his fort save but barely...making exactly 14 He turns his head as Felicity calls his name and takes a step back towards her (and also away from the beastie). He doesn't make that spot check tho. So he just thinks it's gross goop coming out of the thing.]

Ugh- sick!

[ nyna fights off the poison now, but bloopy constricts around her (dmg 10), turning her slightly purple, but she does another smite blast out of her palm (atk 27, dmg 8), groaning against the tentacles squeezing the life out of her. it's at least seemed to occupy the thing for now... ]

[Cara moves to try and help Nyna out of the grip that the creature has on her. She moves to tuck her agiels away, changing to use her hands instead. She grips at the tentacles and tries to rip them apart. ( atk 23, dmg 11 )]

[Felicity manages to catch the retreat however, her brow furrowing in confusion (spot 24).]

It's made of paint?

[That ... does not stop her from shooting it again, though (attack 24, damage 7).]

[ unfortunately, while cara certainly hurts the thing, its tentacles seem to be suction-cupped to nyna. womp womp.

felicity's shot causes a splash of paint to erupt from the pile, and then the entire puddle worms its way up and out a crack in the window. ]

[Watching one of the weird (apparently made of) paint monsters slither away, Stiles turns his focus on the one still grabbing onto Nyna. Looking around wildly, he grabs the nearest object. Oh look- a fancy vase. He quickly grabs it and hurls it at the creature with all of his might!!! (attack 19, damage... 1 shut up).]

[ with a 28, nyna uses her last smite for the day (13 dmg), which, coupled with stile's 1 dmg, is EXACTLY ENOUGH TO PUT THE THING DOWN. no shit. it lets out a hideous noise before collapsing abruptly into a useless puddle in which nyna lands on her ass ] Ugh!

[Felicity lowers her gun and makes her way over, resting her hands against Nyna's shoulders for a moment.]

You okay?

[Stiles practically folds in half with relief.]

Wait- did you say it was... paint? [He goes to examine the puddle. That's really weird.]

They are definitely not anything I am familiar with.

Yeah, oil paint. I noticed it when it started melting.

[She glances around the rest of the room, trying to see if she can find anything else out of the ordinary (spot 23).]

I've never seen anything like it, but I'm not exactly monster girl.

[Stiles is just trying to see if he remembers reading about anything like this during his magic studies or just general hang outs in the library. Buuuut apparently his 20 total is not enough so no. He's just squinting at the paint puddle.]

[ nyna winches, but light flares up in her palm as she squeezes it closed, healing herself further ] I'm fine. [ she looks towards one corner of the room, where a body lies, broken and battered ] I don't think our host is.

[allmydreams]

[Felicity frowns at the body because this bodes well for their easy mission stealing things. She gets up from Nyna's side and crouches down next to the body to check for a pulse just to be on the safe side (treat injury 10).]

Check the rest of the house to see if there's anyone else around or anything weird - stick together just in case there are more paint creatures lurking around.

[Stiles looks to Cara and shrugs. Guess they are partners now he starts to poke around the house for weird stuff (search 13)]

[ he's dead, jim. nyna leans over him as well, and with an 18 treat injury she adds: ] I think they squeezed him to death. He was probably poisoned. What were those things?

[ in the meantime, stiles and care move into what looks like a kitchen, and immediately someone lets out a little shriek, and a mustached butler cowering in the corner puts his hands up and says something in a language neither of them speaks - but he definitely looks frightened ]

Aside from "paint octopus"? I have no idea.

[Probably (arcane lore 9)? She studies the body carefully for a moment before gently patting him down to see if there's anything there that might indicate some kind of clue - including why they may have called the Knights in the first place (search 10).]

[As the butler appears, rattling off things in a language Stiles doesn't know, he also puts his hands up to show that the aren't dangerous.]

Whoa, hey! No habla. Uh... Mr. Coyl? We're here to see him?

[He's trying to just... look nonthreatening. Not sure if there's a roll for that... Diplomacy maybe? If so, 33]
