The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I have put in my fair share of time at boring ass parties. [he hands his drink over.]

But you're still coming to them anyway.

[ That sounds like a question almost, inviting explanation. She sets his drink aside and takes his hand, leading him out to a more open space for dancing. ]

Before this whole thing, it was always mob parties. Maybe it's like a little piece of home. [and then, with a grin] Or maybe I just like free bars.

[his dance roll was a nat 20 so ... yep. that happened.]

That's probably not the kind of thing you should tell people. The mob thing, not the free bars. [ Rolling her eyes, she affirms, ] Everyone likes free bars.

[ And her dance roll was a 14 so like she's pretty good but she's not fuckin Alex over here. ]

Geez. You must have really paid attention at those mob parties.

I don't make a habit out of it. [he makes a face that's half bitchy smile half lemon face.] Maybe a handful of people know here. I figured you'd find out anyway, if you wanted to, with all your hacker bullshit.

Hey, that bullshit totally saved your ass in Mexico, all right? [ A radical interpretation of the text. ] Anyway, I kinda figured Wynn would have disappeared most of his Knights to the outside world. You think there's still traces?

[ambitionist]

[he shrugs.] Most of the people here don't have traces. They're Shadowkind. They just kind of ... show up, and I guess Wynn's MO is to give them a place to belong. But with the ones who were born on this side, like me, it's a little more difficult. Some people don't want to disappear. Like Gus, he treats this like a fuckin' part time job.

[hacker]

Yeah, I noticed that. [ her nose crinkles, and she lets Alex dip her because dat nat 20. While he does, she changes the subject. Sort of. ] So are you, Malina, Gus, and Kali like a clique? You guys all seem pretty close.

[ambitionist]

[ once he pulls her back up, he shrugs.] Well, the three of us are all from New York. Malina and Gus knew each other before, and Gus and I seem to be the only gay men in the entire fuckin' castle, so ... you know. Birds of a feather. And Kali is Kali.

[hacker]

Well, that's weird. [ The lack of gay people thing, not Kali. But Kali too. ] Did you join around the same time as them too? Malina and Gus said they've been here like ten years.

[ambitionist]

Right? It should be statistically im-fuckin'-possible. Someone's holding out on us. [he shakes his head.] Nah, I've only been here a year and some change.

[hacker]

You know, Dean did seem a little repressed.

Yeahhhhh, that's gonna be a hard pass from me.

[he shrugs again.] It's whatever. I'm not starved for affection. I just really wanted to fuck on a spaceship, you know? I used to love Star Trek.

[hacker]

[ And that draws a genuine laugh out of her. ]
